Even though the temps are about 20 degrees below normal, we celebrate the arrival of Spring with a green washer!

It's cold and all extension cords are being used in the kitchen right now so I haven't cleaned or even plugged it in but supposedly it does work.

Look at that gleaming stainless steel tub! It looks like they never took the softener dispenser off the agitator - hopefully all that softener-turned petroleum jelly will make getting the cap and agitator out easier!

Speed Queen

I noticed on the dial that it has the Ex. Fill setting for the wash cycle. That would make that Speed Queen an extra capacity one. Much like the one I had growing up. Great washer I just cant believe that they never would have removed the softener dispenser to get the clothes in and out of it. That would be a pain in the backside that for sure.
It looks like it was taken care of well.

This is a standard capacity machine - grey agitator, smaller tub. The large capacity machines had white agitators and marginally deeper tubs. Most of the SQ washers had an extra-fill setting on the dial, some were not marked but the book told you to use that for lower water pressure filling to ensure a full tub of water. The large capacity machines didn't come out until later in the 70's - like 75 or 76, CR constantly downgraded them for being capacity challenged a rating they would retain (among others) even after they intro'd "large" capacity models.

I stand corrected. You are right Greg...kinda assumed that it would have been the extra capacity machine...didnt know that is what they did. I do know that with the one I had I had to baby sit it since I used a cold rinse and it would only fill half way and had to reset it to fill the tub. Even with a warm rinse it didnt fill all the way.

It's my understanding that Ex Fill is for instances of low water pressure in order to get a full load. My aunt who had a ~1969 SQ pair told me that years ago, per what the dealer had told her.
