AW Problems today?

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

It's not just you... I'm having a devil of a time with the site today (just signed in about 15 minutes ago and having issues).

Yes I can't quite figure out what is going on today, from work and my phone the site is zippy like normal, from home its extremely slow. All are different ISPs so I wonder if there is something DNS issue today with certain ISPs?

I put in a help desk ticket about the issue. It probably will be a while before they respond, but hopefully they will have some idea of what is going on. I'll keep everyone posted when I hear from them.

Seems to be cleared-up now. AW is suddenly speedy. :-)

Now that the problem is over, everything was sluggish to a degree. More noticeable on work-related which has been the primary attention today. Homestead.com (dealing with a client's registration account). A little more than usual at Godaddy. Our reseller hosting control panel (not directly related to either of the above).

Yup, back to normal . . .

Everything was OK early in the morning (before 8:00), but kind of spastic an hour ago. For instance I checked the Imperial forum thread regarding the Philco POD posted a couple of days ago. Supersuds had made a new reply and I wanted to see it - these Philco "high frequency" machines always fascinate me - but the thread would only partially load. I finally gave up, but noticed other threads and forums were also slow. Checked in again a few minutes ago and everything was completely normal.

It's amazing how unhappy I am when deprived of AW for even a short while, must be some sort of addiction!

Sorry guys, can't explain it and support hasn't responded yet. I assume they had some kind of problems on their end and are backlogged with tickets. If they let me know what happened I'll let everyone know.

At least its all normal and back up to speed again.

Thanks for alerting me as always!

In-Site E-Mails

Had huge trouble loading that via a mobile connection despite other site features working fine.

Some other threads (mostly with pictures) have been a tad painful as of late too.

Thanks for the reports guys!

Well I put in a support ticket at 3:50pm central time yesterday and technical support responded finally at 11:43pm, 8 hours later which is very problematic in my opinion. Here is what they said, copied right out of the email:

Hello, we've has several similar reports today there was an apparent network issue at the data center but the matter has resolved it's self. Sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you for contacting Support, have a nice day.

Resloved itself? Nothing just resolves itself. Needless to say this kind of support or lack there of makes me a very nervous. We use to be with Lunarpages in Los Angeles, but their service got worse and worse. So I moved us to our current provider. Moving very busy websites of this size and that are dynamic (constantly changing because of the forums and features) takes a huge amount of delicate work, it's expensive and things never go completely right the first try. For the first few years at our current provider I was super impressed with their service, almost no downtime ever and support tickets never went more than 60 minutes without a thorough and helpful answer. But back in April of this year our hosting company was bought by the EIG group which has been buying up some of the big ISP hosting companies. Ever since April support has gone downhill and we seem to be having more down time than I ever remember before.

I hate to have to start the long and painful process of moving the sites to a new provider again, but I wont hesitate if their service doesn't improve. I'm just hoping for the best for now, time will tell.

resolve itself or...

They would rather not say what was wrong.
We can become disconnected in an instant in this internet age. Even the basic land line is not so basic because at least some of the call signal (the part that does the switching to connect a call) is done over the internet.

Let's hope that there isn't an on-going attack.

Old Friend

This site is so dependable and reliable, one really never thinks twice about technical difficulties, but then I remembered it was just down for many hours a few weeks back. Other than that I really can't recall much trouble. Was that last shut down a result of the "ticket" people?

You don't need the headache of another transfer, and I'm hoping the ticket takers up their game. Just seeing the Syrian Army Taking down the New York Times is a grim reminder of how vulnerable the world of cyberspace has become.

Lucky for us, the bad guys aren't too threatened by washing machines--unless a washer guy goes over to the other side :'D

Looks like the problem may be wide spread. I have no idea if it's related but got this from my VOIP provider:

Our outgoing USA Premium provider experienced intermittent issues causing long PDD (Post Dial Delay) and failed outgoing calls.
Our system switched to our backup providers and calls are now completing properly with the same level of quality.
We're investigating the issue with our main provider and will switch back the route in a transparent manner without call
interruptions when they have fixed the problem. We'll provide updates as we receive them. VoIP.ms strives to provide a
quality experience to our customers and we'll analyze thoroughly what happened. We apologize for the inconvenience.

I use voip.ms and they are quite good at jumping on and solving problems and are very communicative about what is going on.
