Oh whoopie, now you can wait for the thing to lower down, instead of opening a door, grabbing your pizza, and closing it.... And if it's like a German car, it'll inevitably break in the open or closed position.

That youtube group is for some group of Irish Electrical retailers btw.

It's actually a great oven if you're short of counter space and don't want to build under.

It seems to retail at about €1500 here which is about US$2363, although as we all know the exchange rate is insane at the moment.

€1500 is pretty expensive for an oven, but for high end kitchen appliances it's not out of this world really. Particularly if you consider that you might spend anything from €40,000 to €100,000 on a high end kitchen build!

They're actually quite handy if you're short of counter space as it avoids having a tower for normal built in ovens. It can just slot into an eye level cabinet above a counter.

They're a bit of a show piece I think though :)

Lift oven

That oven has been out for several years now. I guess it would be ok placed over the cooktop if you were really tight on space but they don't recommend that you install it tht way, so it really takes up MORE space. I went with Wolf micro convection. Mark

I think it all depends

If you know food, know your way around a kitchen, and I know it's all about this oven. But the appliance won't make you a better cook. I know people with homes that put in these $50,000 kitchen and their refridgerators are filled with take out boxes and they only use the top rack of their dishwashers for glasses and coffee mugs. The Bottom rack only gets used on holidays when they have a caterer come in. My $299.00 Kenmore Range can cook as good as a $5,000 Range. Even though I'm a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America, , It's all how you handle the heat and get to know your range or oven for this matter.

One significant advantage of this oven is that because heat rises, when the oven is open, less heat escapes when checking the food!

Here in Oz $4000 for an oven is nothing. Since we are the 'clever' and 'lucky' country we can afford it ;0).
