Backlit Maytag Washer

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Yikes, while any lighted-panel Maytag is a cool machine, it looks like a rust-bucket if you ask me...I've certainly had my fair share of THOSE in the short time I've been collecting!! LOL

It was orginally coppertone, CA806 on the model tag indicates the color. Pre-Perm Press cycle with auto soak and pre-wash was made before February 1969. It needs a new lid, paint-job, obviously a belt set and replace that dial/knob with the orginal. Since there are no pictures of the inside of the washer, we'll just assume for the sake of hopeful collectors everywhere that it's just mint!

Too bad my CA806S is only white, but the Cordovan Brown is a neat colour. My machine was found in the garbage by a fluke on the way to work one morning and was tossed because it leaked water all over the floor. I ended up replacing the transmission with a brand new Dependable Drive, because the agitator shafts on most of the old heilical drive transmissions all had grooves worn in the seal surfaces so deep that the shaft seal would no longer hold water.

And yes, the suds-saver is very much operational. That is really the only reason I picked it up and restored it.

Scott -

Thanks for the info. I understand the year, for the most part, as if you use A starting in 64, that was the start of the *02 Series machines. What I don't get is the logic behind the month. Do they always start with G for Jan, or is there a cryptic system? I would appreciate any input on this or a copy of your cheat sheet. I am curently gathering info for a Maytag model database, and this info would be very helpful to many people. Thanks a bunch!

Ben
