Ok kids, the Thanksgiving celebration has not even started yet, and I have already heard my first Christmas music on the radio.

BAH! HUMBUG! Coal for everyone! *LOL*

To quote Samantha, this is a "Particularly annoying time of the year!" Even from this goy-boy. (Goyim, not a typo *WINK*) I AGREE!

Anyhoo Mother Toggles said decqdes ago, if you dont't believe you dont receive. Evven Jeebus said it is better to give than to receve, but I digress....

So hoping Santa brings you lotsa boiz, er toys er, uh ....well you know.........good stuff!

Since we are into jumping the gun.. to all: health, happiness, sanity, a positive cashflow and taming of one's demons and most of all.... peace.

They've been playing Christmas music on our stations since Nov. 1, usually they don't start until the day after Thanksgiving. Have a peaceful holiday season, everyone!

The fastest thing on earth though is how Walmart manages to make all those hundreds of aisles of Halloween candy in each store disappear overnite Oct 31 and replace them with Christmas candy instantaneously. It's magic

Yep Pete, I was in Wally World Sun. Nov. 2nd, they were only playing Christmas music and many decorations were out. Made me sick to my stomach

I thought I was hearing things, its the Christmas push, that is why I don't celebrate this holiday like it was my birthday.
True gimmick to keep stores afloat for 4 3/4 months till Easter rolls around.......
Stick a fork in it, I'm done!

up here.......

walmart was way behind the times. Sears, Pennys, Kmart , Target and hobby lobby had all thier stuff out way before our local walmart did...go figure

It's The Only Thing...

...Today's retail "geniuses" (heavy dose of sarcasm) know how to do. They already know it's going to be a tough Christmas season, so they figure making it last longer is the way to get the most out of it.

Doesn't occur to them that training their staffs better, extending more courtesy to customers, keeping more checkout lanes open, and working to remain in-stock on desirable merchandise might accomplish more.

P.S.:

The reason retaillers get so bent out of shape over the prospect of a poor Christmas season is that it's hugely important to the survival of stores and chains. Some specialty retaillers, like the kitchenwares biz I was in for years, generate 70% of their annual gross during Christmas. Having such a spike built into one's business model is insane, but there it is.

Keep it $imple

Well said Toggs, My brother and i are taking a Ham to our 91 year old Aunt's home, she is the last surviving member on our Dad's side of the family. NO Gifts, Just food, love and a good a visit. re: your above post SHAME on the big W, don't they scavenge enough off customers all year long? Walmart might ought to rethink their marketing tactic's, Someone killed over a frickin sale. How sad. I hope this puts an end to this lining up in the freezing dark for bargains, its goofy. Now if you have small kids i realize you need Santa Toy's but this year adults IMHO need to be adults. ( i never need to return a fine bottle of ABSOLUTE :-) Happy Holidays to AW.org

Atlanta Radio Stations

Most all the major Atlanta GA radio stations are 100% Christmas music till Decemeber 25th! Thanks God for CD's!

The other thing that really distrubs me this Christmas season is reading on the internet of the Walmart employee in New York who died as results of being trappled to death by customers entering the store. This happened while the employee was opening the store doors to let customers in this past Friday the day after Thanksgiving.

Some other workers were hurt while coming to the aid the employee who was knocked down by the crowd. The store closed for several hours due to what had happened earlier. The report told of customers who became ugly and irate because they could not go shopping.

In my honest opinion this Black Friday shopping frenzy the day after Thanksgiving has gotten way out of hand!

An emphatic "Ditto" to the title of this thread. I hate to shop as it is. I hate malls. Being forced to shop really rubs me the wrong way and on a yearly basis I drag my feet until the last days before Xmas. With this being the first year without Mom, it's just me and my sister left and she said over Thanksgiving that we should spend no more than $20 on anyone and instead go out to a really nice restaurant that we would otherwise never consider. So if we can swing a reservation this late in the game we may end up at Manresa, which nailed 3 (or was it 4?) Michelin stars right off the bat when it opened a few years ago. I like her way of thinking for this year!

For those who are going to shop till they drop, I hope you'll consider doing it at your local independent retailers instead of big box stores.
