I think the term "gay" in the current venacular has gone beyond homosexuality that was a mostly a term for same sex relationships, to evolve to strange or unwanted situations in life expressed by teens by thier parents behavior, or shitty situations in life, unfortunately in the teen society. I was at my friends house and his daughter said, "Dad,it is so GAY that you wont let me go to Eric's( herboyfriends') house tonight for that small party." It was almost that the word gay was the worst thing a situation could be. When we were kids, we would have said it was "so twisted" , or "fu**ed. Everyghing with teens is "Gay" ,so gay that we lost the game,, so gay my parents wont buy be a new snowboard,etc. I think the world is going backwards, and it scares me.

Pturo, name ONE out and proud gay activist that's visible in the wider American society or even gay culture for that matter, and THAT is why we have new developments like the word "gay" used as the latest acceptable perjorative.

Getting back to SUVs, did anybody see "Intervention" Sunday night? "Sylvia" was a woman with a severe alcohol problem who used to be an interior designer and worked in a clothing store. She would buy little bottles of vodka but she would drive a HUge Chevy Tahoe (I think). They did show her driving some but the producers did call cabs for her. Her family had the intervention with Jeff, who says "These people love you like crazy and are fighting to get you back and they want you to join the fight" Fortunately "Sylvia" said yes and went to treatment (always someplace in Arizona or Florida) and so this show had a happy ending. But you should have seen her in the Tahoe!

About the word...

Years ago in Newsweek I remember one of the authors had an article "Please return the word Gay" about the use of the word. He wanted to get the word Gay away from homosexual and returned to its original meaning of happy and bright, as in "Make the Yule Tide Gay". I remember his last name was Zorn. Can anyone guess what word he wanted to replace Gay? Zorn recommended replacing the word gay for homosexual with "Fab"! He said no one would be upset about this, except for the surviving Beatles and Colgate-Palmolive (do they even make Fab?).

I personally like to be thought of as queer... I have always thought it sounded nicer.. Then again, having been raised by older people, they always referred to people as "queer"...
I felt bad after i wrote that btw... I hope no ones mad at me

Speaking of small cars.

A little red POS came flying up my rear end and swerved, cutting the car in the left lane behind me off and almost smashing into Helen's Grand Prix. His little rice rocket probably woulda get smushed but if he'd hit me and Helen, he'd get hit where it really hurt, his wallet. Then we'd both have his and hers G6 convertibles.

So it was my bad to say it's just SUVs because bad drivers come in all sizes. But bad driving needs to stop. It's retarded. Swerving and cutting people off doesn't get you anywhere, just next in line for the red light.

You know, we New Yawkers probably invented obnoxious driving lol, but, I'm wondering if we maybe are exporting this to the rest of the country?

I'm reading tales of this happening all over the country now.

We've had a rash of really high-profile nasty accidents recently, but it never seems to wake many of us up...it's like we just want what we want, and don't care who we endanger just to get it.

It's just not worth it.

Actually, Helen loves her Grand Prix so she'd get a new GP, and I'd get the G6 vert. It not near as fuel efficient as the Bug but it hauls a$$ right off the line and has no problem entering an interstate full of 80mph+ SUVs

I think so..The Grand Prix is scheduled to bite the dust after 2007 model year if i recall
