Base for Frigidaire "Flair" 30" Range

I have just acquired a beautiful 30" Frigidaire "Flair" range but it doesn't have the base with it. Just wondering if anyone out there would happen to have one that I could buy.

Those cabinets are not special in any particular way, other than that the color and trim of the vertical handles was matched to the cooking unit, itself.

Until you find one - and you will - perhaps some good soul around here would be willing to give you the dimensions of their cabinets and include a few pictures. On that basis, you could decide whether to build or have built a matching unit.

Many Flairs without base were, after all, built in to existing kitchen counters, that being the great advantage of the Flair's dimensions.

Completely Custom

The cabinets for the Flair ranges were an entirely custom-built unit with not only trim to match the front of the range, but additional support and structure to support the 230 pound weight of a 30" Flair range or 325 pound 40" models. The cabinet itself was 27" high, lower than a standard kitchen cabinet of 34 1/2" so as to accommodate the pull-out cooktop and give it a working-height of 32".

The cabinet from Frigidaire started out as an option in 1960, ordered separately with the range and proven so popular, then became standard and the range-only was made the option for site-built cabinets. The range only would very rarely have been installed in an existing kitchen, the odd dimensions for the entire unit, electrical connections, etc. would have made it rather cost prohibitive for most of the "replacement" market.

You're right, of course, that the cabinet was purpose built for the load. My memories are based on my grandparents' Flair which I last saw in the 1970's...

It shouldn't be a problem to build an acceptable cabinet until a real one can be found. As long as you're scanning and emailing, would you mind sending on a copy to me?
