why, why, why? :(

Gorgeous machine! Would definitely pick it up if it was closer!

I hate to say that the grass is greener on the other side, but....the midwest has the best appliances in the best condition. Here in Texas, they are either rust buckets (because of the humidity, lack of basements, etc.) or used to the point where they are ready for the crusher (we are a thrifty lot).

Hope someone picks up this lovely :)

Maytag A606

Hey yal,I have this machine who wants it?It has never been repaired and works great!Lighted control panel, lighted interior drum, super capacity,2 speed agiatate and spin,4 water levels and 5 temperature settings.

Interior light?

Someone clue me in on this - the A806 (from 66 or 67) that Cory and I just picked up didn't appear to have an interior light, but the A606 would of had one? I can't remember when I've seen one with an interior light! From the listing of features of the 606 vs. the 806, I would imagine that it would have the light. Also, what is the model 'line-up' of Maytag's when they changed the design in 66-on?

You might wish to take a peek at a Maytag parts book auction I listed here in the group. Covers all the models from that period so you would have a ready reference in hand on your next shopping trip! Makes interesting reading too, if one is into that sort of thing.

I'm also curious about Maytag's lineup during this period. I have an A208. The models around this time appeared to have only minor differences.

tub light

If you push the tub back toward the left and look onto the front right top of the tub ring, you should see a small oval window that lets the light come through from the bulb located above it inside the body just under the right front corner of the top.Sometimes, the tub ring isn't put back on right or is replaced with one that has no window to let the light through. If you remove the front of the machine and lift the top up,you should be able to see it.You can also take a small mirror or compact and hold it under the right hand front corner of the tub,you should be able to see the small glass window that shines the light through.the light is controlled by the lid switch.

Maytag parts book on the Bay

Launderess, I did see this on eBay earlier today while looking around. It seems to cover models up to the early sixties, and I thought about buying it, but I never see these machines (well, I shouldn't say never, saw a rusty 101P in a basement). I would love to find one from the late sixties though. I have a soft spot for lit like this - anyone out there have a parts book they'd be interested in parting with?

You sly dog you,

Ben, I just went and had a look at the Sudsaver downstairs and sure enough, there is a tub light tucked back to the side!

I'm going to need to start dragging these backlit Maytags home...collect every color!

Hi Pat, It was from some old home decorating books I found a t Goodwill. They had a section on laundry rooms and were very interesting and would be fully functional today. I especially liked the one where the washer and dryer were seperated by a length of countertop and the dryer was raised on a cabinet like the new machines.
