Is that the original timer knob for that dryer? That knob looks newer than what the dryer appears. Or is it my imagination?

Definitely not the original knob.

It is from mid 2000s Whirlpools and later Admirals. It's a very nice fit though, almost looks as if it was always there.

Originals are sometimes available on eBay.
