Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Louis, this is true because I have three daughters 10,12,and 13,and they already look back on their early years, like the times we went fishing, and camping. They talk about christmas mornings from 3 and 5 years ago with fond memories. In the future Im sure they will remember Daddy playing with his antique washers. Im hoping to leave my washer fortune with them one day. I would turn over in my grave if they let them go to the krusher.Ha Ha Don

I was born in 1949 so I have lots of remembrances of the 50's. I too would go looking for the washing machines. Since we lived on the farm until 1960 all of my parent's friends had wringer machines. Here are the ones that I remember: Ge, Conlon, Philco, Modern Maid, Maytag, Thor, Mont. Wards, ABC, Dexter, Kenmore and Apex.
For automatics: Coronado (we had that one) Kenmore, Bendix, Westinghouse, Norge, Hamilton, Easy, Speed Queen,Abc, Frigidaire,GE. I would nose around in the basements,(no permisson from anyone) and laundry rooms. All kinds of cleaning products too, 50's: Wisk in a metal bottle- can. American Family soap flakes and detergent, Oxyodol, Rinso Blue, Breeze, Tide, Surf ( the no rinse detergent) oh that was a good idea, NOT, Fels Naptha, Blue Cheer, Fab in the gold box, Duz. The 60's: all of the previous products and, All, Dash, Ad,Vim, Salvo. Clorox in the 50's came in a dark brown glass bottle. Fabric softeners in the 50's: Nu Soft, Downy. I would go into the A&P with mom and go to the laundry products and sniff all of the boxes to see what scent they all had. (ok, I still do this)lol Have fun. Abcomatic
