Beko washing machine help

My Beko WM5120 washing machine is making a horrible tinny grinding sound as the drum turns on a wash.

Do you reckon its the belt thats on its way out?, its only 14 months old.

should i scrap the machine and get a second hand bosch maxx?

That is a weird noise.

I reckon it is the belt and my friends machine (Beko) is doing it too!

Im going to go to a second hand washing machine shop and have a look

Not going to buy new as I cant afford it, and i can get a good reconditioned machine for about £100 =]

Bosch WFF Series would be nice, or a WFG Precision or a Maxx Classixx or Exxcel with a Time Remaining indicator.

Sounds almost like a bra wire caught between the drum and outer tub, but if another Beko is doing the same thing it probalbyl cannot be the cause.

Why don't you have it repaired under warranty? Isn't the standard warranty two years like elsewhere in Europe?

Sorry, but you're giving up far too early.

 

Give Beko a call and ask them what they'll do given the machine is only 14 months old....explain how much/little use the machine has had and how you bought Beko partly because you'd heard good things about them etc etc.....talk about the QUALITY of their machines.....sell why you bought it to them. Make them want to keep you as a customer.

 

When our Electrolux/Westinghouse dryer started to play up earlier this year at 4yrs of age, Electrolux offered to pay for the parts if I paid labour - It was nearly 2yrs out of warranty!

I know it's not an expensive machine but 14 months is pretty rubbish for any machine & i'd expect Beko to offer some degree of goodwill given that it's only 2 months out of warranty.

It seems the machine you posted a link to had a belt problem & if this is the same on yours it could be a cheap fix (for you or Beko).

I've seen a few Beko machines appearing to fail between 1 & 2 years recently & hope they're not cashing in on their previously good reputation in a similar way to other manufacturers, by lowering quality quickly - a look on eBay would have you believe Indesit actually now represent better value for money than Beko, which is not something I could've said a few years ago.

Best thing you could've done was fix your Zanussi FJS when it packed up, but too late now.

Yes that is just a slipping belt. (if yours is the same as the video.)

It is most probably a simple adjustment, though many modern machines no longer have a belt adjustment, you have to buy a new belt. (which is very cheap and easy to do yourself.)

1. Contact Beko and ask if the belt is adjustable.

2. If so, slacken off the adjustment, lever the motor away from the drum to tighten the belt, then tighten up the adjustment.

3. If not, buy a new belt and fit it.

Replacing the washer because of a slipping belt is as silly as replacing a good pair of boots because it needs new laces.
