Belt Drive Kenmore replacement

question for the experts....and I have heard about someting like this, but never had this issue until now.....

changing a belt on a Kenmore......unscrewed the tranny bolts too far, and the spin drive slid out with the tranny to slide the belt over and under.....this little BALL-BERING popped out onto the floor........WHERE does it go?.....there is a little hole on the side of the agitation post....but not sure if it goes there....want to make sure before I re-assemble it....

That ball nestles in a hole in the agitator shaft. Then slide the plastic "T" bearing down around it to hold it there. There is a cutout on the bottom of that plastic "T" bearing that holds the ball in place.

Dropping your ball bearing...

If your ball (bearing) is dropping to the floor, I don't see what the problem is. Sorry had to do it lol.

For future knowledge, that pesky little T-bearing ball can be a pain and has caused MANY a re-do for people, including me.

If you put a little white lithium or rykon grease in the agitator shaft hole, the ball won't fall out in the re-install process or if things come apart when the trans is being installed, etc.

GLAD to know the machine is up, running, and apparently happy!

I got everything working so far..........the pump has a little chatter, will need replaced later.......and of course the bleach dispenser is cracked.......but other than that, everything seems to work.....running loads as we speak.....

REPLACING BELTS ON FULL SIZE WP BUILT BD WASHERS

I never drop the transmission to do this, on older machines this is more likely to further damage the top agitator and spin tube seals by sliding the rusted and corroded shafts down and back up bringing rust and moisture down to the top bearings. To me it is much easier to slide the spin cam bar back out of the clutch control rod allowing the clutch control rod to drop and install the belt this way. You only have to remove the one transmission bolt with the spacer to replace the belt. The suggested procedure on the bag that the belt comes is fine for newer machines, although it is still harder than my way, and presents its own problems as you found out.
