How long should I expect the belt to last on my 1979 Bendix 7414 Compact Tumble Drier ?

I bought it yesterday and don't know when it was last changed, maybe it is even the original belt ? Is that possible ?

Basically, do those little driers go through belts quickly or do they last a long time ?

Another thing, when it does snap, is it easy to change ?

Bendix dryer

I have had one these for the last 5 years, i keep it in my loft (it just fitted through the hatch) where it is very cold or very hot, i have never changed the belt (they are available), it has been a reliable workhorse, i modified mine to have reverse tumble which was a bit of a job but worth it in the end.

I vent it out of the loft window when i want to use it

As far as rear venting via the filter goes thats the design, they use whats known as a "halo of heat" system wherebye air is drawn in through the back at high pressure, this air can only escape by passing over two spiral heating coils that sit around the front of the drum and then it goes out via the fluff filter through the outlet on the back, it works well because you even heat passing through the load being dried

I hope you enjoy this machine

Oh yes, I'm really enjoying it!

I can see why they would be good work horses. The body is tough and the motor seems strong.

I don't bother venting mine, I just let the air heat up the kitchen and living room (which adjoins to the kitchen)
