451450 isn't that bad for that White-Westinghouse set, particularly if it was maintained by Sears service contract. That was the TOL Laundromat set with the timed dispensers.

I'd happily pay that for the set if I had the space for it. Unfortunately I live in downtown Portland and space is at a premium. In the late '90s I had a WW front loader similar to the model shown and loved it, but something went wrong (maybe the timer?) and at the time I didn't know any better to have it fixed vs. replace with a new machine, which ended up being a P.O.S. Amana that is all too similar to the SQ's that everyone drools over nowdays. Over two years the Amana required two tub seal replacements as well as a pump replacement.

FWIW, however, that WW front loader washed great, and I LOVED the ability to control the water level. Oh, and it would buzz pisssily if you tried to open the door when you weren't supposed to. The tub light never did work in mine, but the potential is there in a well-kept model.

The only set that seems reasonable is the White Westinghouse set. The other two must be on some really bad crack or something.

amazing what people will post on e bay and craigs list. oh well, for every one that is over priced there will be one very reasonable or under priced.

these over priced ads are good for a chuckle or two! at least for me.

Maytag wringer: I just sent the seller an e-mail saying (a little nicer then this) "Yes it's really nice shape, but it's not from the 40's/50's" and "you should seriously reconsider your price, because it's not going anywhere for $950."

The Westinghouse set: I would REALLY love to have them, but the shipping down to LA... OY! Anyone up there with a truck heading down this way?? LOL

I had the same White-Westinghouse pair when it was briefly sold under the Frigidaire brand name. This would have been around 1987. It was a great set. The timed dispensers were cool and the dryer drum hadn't been downsized, yet.

I don't think this machine had reverse-tumble washing, but I know it still had the loud CLANK of the solenoid going into a spin. There was absolutely no balancing protocol leading into the spin, which occasionally made for some cabinet-banging drama.

Only had the pair for a year or two, but remember them fondly. Certainly worth the asking price if they're in good working order.

i like the westinghouse set too-especially if it's a proper
'88-earlier oval pulley one and not the later version with
"frigilux"style motor and electrics..
