Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Is it filling up with water? If it is, the suppressor is probably OK. Is the timer going round? If it is filling OK, is the door switch working? Is it heating the water? You will see there is a mechanical linkage between the timer and the drum pulley. You can try turning the drum by hand a few times to see if anything different happens at different settings of the cable / gear mechanism.

Sounds like door switch trouble. I can't remember what sort of interlock it has. It might be difficult to get at!

Bendix 7179

I had one of these for about 5years. When I got it, it kept bursting into flames because one of the switches in the back was faulty. I replaced the switch and it worked great.
Very quick wash time, variable temperature. 550rpm spin was a pity but a 2nd spin in a spindryer and everything was done.
This was a very simple and basic machine but very clever in its simplicity.
An automatic machine without frills, the uneven load spin cancel was just a weighted pendulum.
I would still have it if the pump hadn't started to leak and then I couldn't save it.

Have you managed to get it working yet? I've only just seen this thread.
You need to push the program selector, turn to any part of the selection and release.
Do not try to turn it without pushing first.

If I can be of any help, let me know.
