Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

gotta be new, but ............

the word "Bendix" is throwing me, but the "new price" vs. asking price, etc ......... leads me to believe it is definately not vintage ........

Bendix & Thor Brand Names

Are still being used but the appliances are from Philco (or whatever latest incarnation one of the Merloni brothers have), and are nothing to do with their vintage cousins.

The above applies to laundry appliances sold in the United States, not sure if the same holds true elsewhere, but stands to reason one company would purchase the brand.

Electrolux owns the rights to Bendix over here in Europe at least - you can still get Bendix-labelled washers, dryers, and dishwashers over here. Also have machines labelled Tricity-Bendix too, which is also owned by Electrolux.

Later they restyled these machines. This is what they looked like. This particular machine has the Vendomatic label on it, which was used by a department store overhere. But they were just the same as the Bendix ones. At the 2002 convention Jeff Lefever had a few similar machines in his garage.

Hi Louis

That picture of the model 7412 is the model my parents had for a few years. It was a great washer - quiet, strongly built, washed very well. Spin wasn't great - maybe 500 rpm? They threw it out after one of the switches fell apart and Mum got a shock from it. I liked that machine. To start, you pressed the "start" button and held it in till the pointer indicated the cycle you wanted, then released and it started the cycle. You could not turn the timer by hand, it was just a pointer. Another knob selected from a wide range of options. It was a really heavy and strongly made machine.
