I visited the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California today.
Saw this and was quite surprised to see the Bendix name associated with computers!

More on Bendix

I found this info. on Wikipedia;

Although popularly connected to washing machines, the Bendix Corporation itself never actually manufactured that home appliance. In 1936 the company licensed its name to Bendix Home Appliances, another South Bend company, for a 25% stake in the company.[2] Bendix Home Appliances, founded by Judson Sayre, was later sold to Avco Manufacturing Corporation.[3]

In 1956 the computer division of Bendix Aviation introduced the Bendix G-15, a mini computer which was the size of two tall filing cabinets. The company sold about 400 of these at prices starting at below US$50,000. The Bendix computer division was taken over in 1963 by Control Data Corporation, which continued to manufacture the G-15 for a few years. The chief designer of the G-15 was Harry Huskey, who had worked with Alan Turing on the ACE in the United Kingdom and on the SWAC in the 1950s. Huskey created most of the design while working as a professor at Berkeley and other universities, and also as a consultant.

My Dad worked at Bendix/Freeze in Baltimore (Essex) , Maryland for ten years then got laid off and went with a privately owned concrete company (Arundel) where he got them the contract to supply all the concrete for Interstate 95 (i95).

Bendix has been building electronic and defense products for the gov't for years-if not decades-I visited a phased array radar station near Ft Walton Beach that is used to track objects in space-it can track many or even hundreds at once.Or you can adjust it to track one item.Now it has been replaced by a similar system built by Motorola in Alabama.Phased array radars work by coordinating radar transmitters and receivers to work together.Its a fascinating device.You can spot such a system-they are built in a sloped faced building-and the face has two sections-one for the transmitters and the other for the receivers.No rotating antenna or dish-the system works by changing the phase of the emissions from the transmitters.
