I know avocado and turquoise dont go together..but everything works and it does not irritate me, its rather soothing as I remember when it was new and as a small boy, I remember standing in front of it waiting for one of Berthas wonderful biscuits...she also cooked breakfast for me on my birthday for many years, before this she had a 1952 thrifty 30 Frigidaire, Bertha Marley Reavis and her husband Raymond lived 2 houses down from my homeplace, she lived 1 month shy of being 102,born 1910 died 2012, a wonderful lady in whos home I was always welcomed as she did her own daughter who grew up with my mother, sadly her Daughter died of cancer several years before Bertha did, and she went downhill , but she stayed by herself until a month before she died. Berthas sister gave me the stove.

Another odd thing...

I knew it was bought in March of 75, but discovered it was a leftover 74 model, Known for being frugal, I bet they got a good deal on it.

Hans,

Who cares if your colors clash? If it works, and you're happy with it, go for it. Besides, think of all the wonderful memories you have because of it.

turquoise & avocado

.... were actually a hot color combo in the late 60's - as were pink & orange - I love them together!

Well for one thing the stove looks great for it's age---

The fact that you have received the actual stove that has been used for some of your childhood meals and baked goods and still be able to actually use it means that you get to put the same kind of love and affection into what you fix.

You are lucky because it gives you that extra something when cooking.

Cherish it because it's sure is heartwarming and comforting for you and something special for those who get to eat what you've made.

And haven't you heard....the latest color trend in kitchen's is a turquoise avocado mix. ;)

I really like these ranges. And I like Avocado too! And in my opinion, the 1974 model looks much better than the 1975!

Norgeway, now you have the RIGHT stove. The nice story of Ms. Bertha makes it a family heirloom. Arthur

The push-to-turn knobs and removal of the electric outlet happened not long after your range was sold as the 1975 models still display electric outlets but they were gone in the 1976 models (which were probably introduced in mid-1975).

Here in Canada, we still get ranges with electric outlets and switches that don't need to be pushed to turn but Frigidaire didn't modify the few ranges that they sold in Canada after the ban of these features in the US so they'd have a power outlet or no push-to-turn switches in the late 1970s. They just added the then-mandatory fuses at the top of the control panels and relocated the surface unit pilot lights.

We didn't get many models here either. Just a few MOL Custom Deluxe models as the Super didn't have space at the top of the control panel to hide the fuses and the Touch-N-Cook wasn't approved by the CSA.

My 1970s ranges are US models that were not approved in Canada, they don't have fuses or two surface lights.

This one below is one that was modified for the Canadian market. The only one I ever saw! The other versions were a self-cleaning with regular surface units and a thermostatic 8" and another self-cleaning model with the ceramatop. Frigidaire ranges weren't sold here from 1971 to 1975. The list price for the self-cleaning Ceramatop was over $1000 here and the self-cleaning with regular Radiantube surface units were listed around $900. That probably explains why so few were sold.

That's too much! We carried the entire FRIGIDAIRE line and the original Tuch N Cook model free standing thirty inch unit was selling hot for only $799. The Custom Imperial washer was $499 and the matching dryer was $389.The Refreshment Center refrigerator was $999 and the dishwasher was $549.

WELCOME TO CANADA!

That's how it is here!

A few years ago, when I wanted to order 4 dryer drum rollers for my 1977 1-18 dryer, I was told there was just one roller available in Canada and it was $47... There were plenty available in the US from the same suppliers as this of the border (Reliable and Marcone) but in Canada, both suppliers had access to the same single roller from Frigidaire. Frigidaire also sold these in the US directly to the public for $6.45 each, a few cents less than Reliable and Marcone back then (not anymore I think as the part is now NLA and Frigidaire sells just a few parts like water filters directly to the public now).

The problem was that neither US branches of Reliable, Marcone or Frigidaire would ship the rollers in Canada. I did call Frigidaire Canada about that and I asked for explanations for such a price difference and also to know why I couldn't get more than here and the representative over the phone told me: WELCOME TO CANADA...

I finally ordered 8 of them from Frigidaire in the US and had them shipped to a friend in the US...

Since then, I got a PO box in the US so whenever I order things, I avoid buying them here or having them shipped here (which is either impossible or very expensive!). A few weeks ago, I won a 50 cents item on eBay that could be shipped in a small envelope. I didn't notice first but the seller was in Canada. When I did the checkout, shipping to Canada (from Canada!) was $8. It was $1 more expensive than if I selected international shipping to the US!
