Quiet Please, There´s a Lady on Stage
WB11 televison in New York City, is currently running a "Bewitched" marathon. For those who do not have cable this is a rare chance to see the series on network television.

The marathon is tied into the release next week of the new flim "Bewitched" starring Ms. Kidman and Mr. Farrell. This means lots of clips/promos for the flim besides commercials, but for an afternoon with Samantha, Darrin, Endora and the rest it's worth it.

Check your local listings.

Had forgotten just how beautiful Elizabeth Montgomery was! The very picture of upper middle class surburban "cute blonde".

So much of Bewitched seems so dated today, but still oh so funny. Those "incantations" and spells were a hoot. And who could forget "Serena" Samantha's cousin (ok, really Miss. Montgomery in a wig. Sometimes you could see her blonde hair peaking out from underneath. What can one say about "Doctor Bombay"?

Just what did you mean by "happy"? *LOL*

Bewitched Trivia Question:
How many members of the original cast were "gay" or at least seriously rumored to be so?

Bewitched Trivia Question (another)
Which members of the original cast are still living?

Bewitched Trivia Question (last)
Which major auto makers were at some point sponsors of Bewitched?

The last question is not totally unappliance related, as many automobile makers then also had appliance divisions.

Bewitched Trivia Question (last)

There were various sponsers during the run, but only one carmaker I remember, Chevrolet.

Elizabeth Montgomery

Ironically, I just watched an old movie where her father, Robert Montgomery, was playing Philip Marlowe.

Dick York wasn't Gay. Dick Sargent was gay)

It was confusing, because Dick Sargent came out at about the same time Dick York died, and then died himself not long after that. (York of Emphysema in 1992 and Sargent of Prostate Cancer in 1994, I believe, and Dick Sargent came out not long before he died).

Dick Sargent and Elizabeth Montgomery were Grand Marshals of the LA Gay Pride Parade in 1992. As she told the press at the time "In or out of the closet, I love him. He's a super guy and a good friend. I'm happy for him and proud of him."

dick york

Dick York was not gay.He was married and had a rare spinal dissorder. He died in or around 1990 not long after he was interviewed and written up in the March,1989 issue of People Magazine.Dick Seargent didn't come out of the closet untill way after the show went off the air and died not long after that of cancer.Paul Lynde and Agnes Moorehead were the only others on Bewitced known to be found fondeling with partners of their own genders.Paul had many dissasters in his own personal life and his death was attributed to a heart attack possibly caused by sniffing an inhalant to excite his sexual pleasures. His loss was greatly mourned.

Endora lives!

I have a neighbor that we call "Endora". Yikes! She has those same *evil* eyes! She's more like Mrs. Kravitz (nosey), but I swear she could put a hex on you! Hubby ran into her the other day and almost called her Endora! LOL

I believe everyone is correct about Dick York. He was straight, and died from some rare disease. Dick Sargent was gay. I saw a biography on the Bewitched series, which offered more details on the cast members.

Beware of video head cleaner!

Paul Lynde's character of Uncle Arthur almost makes Dr. Smith of "Lost in Space" look like a "manly-man!"

P.S doesn't the robot look like an uspide down washer from the belt up?

Surviving Cast Members

Only Alice Ghostly, and Bernard Fox, remain (besides the various children/infants who played Adam and Tabitha), of the original Bewitched cast members. Some extras as Richard Dryfeuss (gosh he was so young and goodlooking in the episode where he played a warlock so in love with Sam he turned himself into a dog to be around her. Finally Sam summons the warlock's mother to take her boy home). Have posted a link to a great Bewitched site that has a listing of surviving/deceased cast members. Anyone who loves Bewitched should take a tour of the site, it is great.

Dick York injured his back filming a movie and eventually battled an addiction to perscription pain killers. He missed so many episodes (there are several where Darrin does not appear at all), it was decided to replace Dick York with Dick Sargent. Ironically Dick Sargent was the first choice to play "Darrin".

Besides Agnes Moorehead and Paul Lynde, rumor has it that Sam's father "Maurice" (played by Maurice Evans) was also gay. It should be noted these are only "rumors" and to my knowledge no one has ever proved any of them true. Debbie Reynolds, a close friend of Angnes Moorehead stated publicly Miss. Moorehead was not gay and thought it was disgusting a certian person published such a fact after the woman was no longer around to defend herself.

well at least they found each-other and had a support group, because in those days it was still career and social-suicide.

the self-loathing is bad enough, but when society augments it ..not a good scene.

show your support. kiss a 'mo today!

remaining Bewitched actors

"Only Alice Ghostly, and Bernard Fox, remain"

And Kasey Rogers, the 2nd "Louise Tate"

"I believe everyone is correct about Dick York. He was straight, and died from some rare disease"

Nothing rare, emphysema

If Dick York was the first Darrin, he is the spitting image of my father.

If I look like my father.. could I potentially "land" someone as gorgeous as Elizabeth Montgomery?

Ladies who will be attending the convention (of the XX variety! ....LOL, well OK... either type) Feel free to swoon. Inflate my ego some more!!!

LOL

which witch pitch is which?

Howdy all. Here's a strange question. When I was a youngster watching this show,I noticed that the B&W episodes which had copywright 1964 @the bottom of the opening credits, had a very milky skyway of stars in the backround as the animated Samantha whisked thru the sky on her broom. Then,as we know, in the fall of 1966,the show went color, had the 1966 copywright @ the bottom, and much less backround stars.I've noticed in recent years that the B@W episodes ALL use the 1966 theme that has less stars, and the 1966 copywright as the theme, minus the color, of course. Why,and who else has noticed this?
