Would you guess that a Kenmore refrigerator with a model number of 106.7697310 was a 1976 model? I think mine is in cahoots with Roberts -- I noticed that it doesn't cycle on and off anymore and the freezer is building up with frost. I can get a defrost "bimetal" from Sears for $21, but I also found that the bottom is full of insulation, like it is rotting and falling out. I think the time has come for a replacement...

I'll bet it has a rotary compressor, if it's 1976. We had one in our 1966 Coldspot bottom freezer. That refrig lasted 33 years before the compressor gave out. Today you're lucky to get 8/10 years from a compressor.
