Has anyone used Bissell cleaning products? I came upon them at Big Lots yesterday and got some carpet cleaner and some daily shower cleaner. They were only $1.50 each so I thought why not.
The carpet cleaner worked very well on a couple of spots I had. Actually better than a lot more expensive cleaners I have tried. Hubby hasn't used the shower stuff yet so I hope it's OK too.

Uneven

The Bissell products I've used have been all over the place so far as performance is concerned. The oven cleaner is as good as anyone's, and better than some pricier brands. The furniture polish is not very good, quite watery and requiring a lot of rubbing to obtain a gloss without smears.

Still, they're very low in price, so it's no great hardship if the occasional purchase doesn't work out.

If it's a daily shower cleaner like Tilex it's just diluted bleach in a spray bottle. Same with the Zep stuff from HD. Make your own and save. I've used some of their rug shampoo stuff in my old Hoove steam vac, same as and no better than any other.

The Bathroom cleaner

is Great!

Heather, we've used this product for years. It also cleans a number of other surfaces very effectively and leaves a pleasant scent.

This product used to be .99. It recently has undergone a label refresh and a .51 price increase. Still it is inexpensive compared to others. That said there is another identical product at Big Lots for 1.00 its called "Clean Home Solutions" Bathroom Cleaner. The can has a bright green label. It is scented the same as the Bissell and cleans just as well.

The Bissell window cleaner is not bad, but I prefer Sprayway non-ammonia.

Thanks again for another choice from this line. I was surprised to see the Bissell name, as I had never seen it at Target or the grocery stores. I had to try something and I had spilled some tea the other day, so the carpet cleaner was my first choice.

Pete, I will have to try that the next time we run out of the shower cleaner. Thanks!

We mean CLEAN???

The Bissell cleaning products found in Big Lots are NOT made by the company that makes Bissell carpet cleaners and vacuums. They are manufactured by Penn Champ, a regional chemical company that makes cleaning products and solvents for many grocery and drug store chains, including Big Lots.

I have used their spray disinfectant (interchangeable with Lysol Spray) and their window and bathroom cleaners with good results. I agree with danemodsandy about the furniture polish--you might as well be spraying your furniture with water and a couple of drops of lemon oil...

I believe the rug shampoo used in Bissell Steam Machines is actually made by Bissell, however.

The window cleaner and bathroom cleaner

Work well, although I dislike the scent of something or other in most bathroom cleaners, including this one.
I have the feeling that most of these products are really overpriced - you are paying for the marketing, not the product's quality.

Bissell Spray Starch.

I use a lot of starch on my shirts. Silly me went and bought a can of BISSELL spray starch some time ago. I paid $1.00
I got a good laugh out of my shirts which afterwards smelled EXACTLY like carpet shampoo.

I broke my own rule,"Don't buy something that isn't made by a company that hasn't been doing it for 100 years....or a least a long time"

EXAMPLES..
DON'T BUY:
Bissell Spray starch.
KIRBY underarm deodorant.
GOJO toothpaste
DEEPFREEZE thermal underwear.
... you get the idea.

I don't like the Bissel oven cleaner. It works OK on light grease, like you might find under a stovetop or maybe down the sides. But it doesn't work anywhere near as good as Easy Off, when it comes to grimy grease, or very dirty ovens.
My opinions are given freely, value accordingly.
