Blizzard #2, 2009

Picture speaks for itself. Snowed in is a serious understatement. I'm going to have to hire a plow service to clear the 5 feet of snow on my driveway.

Wow, incredible pics! That was a storm to remember, I'm sure. Nothing so dramatic here in the Pacific Northwest - green Christmas for us on a clear, sunny day. Crisp, but beautiful.

I feel your pain, Andrew. We've had close to 20 inches of snow in the past 48 hours in the SW corner of MN, most of which is in my yard, LOL. I've burned through 3 gallons of gasoline blowing out three driveways on my block. And there's more headed this way overnight!

I've lived in my house for nearly eight years and have never seen this much snow in the yard. I have a gazing ball on a pedestal in my garden and it has disappeared under the snow.

Sigh, indeed!

My First White Christmas Ever!!!

I spend Christmas with my sister in a northern Dallas suburb every year for the last several years. It started snowing just before nooon Christmas Eve. We got 3-4 inches (DON'T LAUGH). I took some pics with my cell phone camera and will proudly share them!!! A dream come true for me!!

I had to dig a path across a strip of grass between my driveway and my neighbors and exit my garage from their driveway.

87 F. humidity of 10% 16mph tradewinds clear skies. We went scuba diving and surfed the 20 ft waves today!!! No snow here!!! lol

Sounds like absolute heaven. You are so lucky to be able to live in the tropics. I used to live in Cairns, which gets almost 100% humidity during the wet season, but temps almost never rise above 38C. During the dry season the day time temps hover around 28C and can (occasionally) drop to 10C in the very early hours of the morning.

Sydney weather is hell on earth for me. We get a couple of days of summer where temps may rise above 30C and occasionally reach the old century, but those are rare and usually followed with bouts of winter revisited where day time temps stay in the high teens, low twenties. I hate the cold. The only good thing about cold weather is a warm and cozy place. I grew up with snow in winter and do not miss it.

I love the tropical monsoon with its thunder storms and heavy downpours. The dry season is kind of boring - too much sunshine. There is nothing more exciting than to watch the monsoon build up. The tension in the atmosphere is palpable just before it hits.

Is the heat in your area dry or wet? Do you have tropical rainforest where you live?

A curious mind would like to know.

Not too shabby here, either

Lows in 40's, highs in 50's. We're probably due for a January heat wave in the 70's, hopefully, but that usually lasts only a week or so.

The magnolia out front has brown leaves but they are still on the tree, and it's putting out flowers. Poor confused thing.

I don't think I've ever seen so much snow! Once you've dug out your own driveway can you actually go anywhere?? Here, that much snow would simply cripple our roads. The disruption caused here by a an inch or two of snow the other week really puts us to shame! It's all gone now - where I live anyway...

PS I hope Max was allowed to stay in the warm, at least he's got a cosy jumper on!!
