Spotted on a Norge-tag at Home Depot today. SS tub but with an Admiral design cabinet, a Home Depot exclusive. It was a very interesting color, rather a poor paint finish quality but at least it stands out and says "HELLO!" in a sea of white, black and metal. A guy with a clipboard (peteski, was that you?? ;-) told us that the blue was new from Maytag and they hadn't recieved the dryer, just the washer. Bisque is now completely gone from the salesfloor, was told it is, was or will be NLA or S.O. only by all manufacturers by early 2006.

That's a great looking color! I'm glad to see bisque gone myself. I never had liked off-whites on anything! Especially in a washing machine, since to me, it looks like a thin layer of dirt. That color though just LOOKS clean, cool and airy, like freshly washed clothes should be! I hope it becomes popular, looks good with the metallic-look controls too.

I've always liked the black washers too. I'm sorry to see them not being sold anymore. You can't beat the neat colors avaliable in the HE3T's nowadays either!

710 vs 620

The 710 went away with the "SAV". 710 was something they inherited from amana. They quit making the "SAV" as it was about to become their next law suit. Now most of their washers will come from their Herrin (norge) plant and the dryers are going to be made in Sercy (amana) plant. We are still awaiting to reintro of the old neptune.

Re: SAV:

Hey! Scott, what was the possibility of a Law Suit going to be about, with the Norge or Amana-Made Washers {sorry, I'm confused as to which made the possibly Law Suit Machines}? Is there any articles, that I've missed either here or in the Newspapers, about that Law Suit or other info?

Does the "710" and "620" in these purposes mean the Spin Speed? Curious mind wondering what's going on, that I've not had info about before, thank you.

The SAV machines are the ones based on the Amana/Speed Queen design. IMHO these were problem machines to begin with. After Maytag added their own improvements it only got worse. Constant stem seal failures (leaks) that would damage spin bearings and make the machine very loud. Pump, belt, and idler pulley failures just like with Speed Queen. And the base was so weak it would often develop cracks and the machine would vibrate violently.

The Norge design machine. Which now makes up almost all of Maytags top line design is pretty good. I can even say that I have had fewer problems with this design than the Dependable Care machines we sold at the same time.

I was refering to the SAV which is the amana based unit. There never was a law suit and nothing in the news. Its just that at a near 100% failure rate something was bound to happen if they continued to make the machine. They claimed to have fixed the problem but the machines are still falling apart. I think they were a little frightened after what happen with the neptune.

The 710 is refering to the spin speed.

The Wicked Witch of Iowa...

...touched everything Maytag has made for the last 10 years or so. Perhaps Whirlpool will bring back some pride and dignity back to the Maytag name.

In the meantime, back to the blue!

I've been working on the Maytag WU601 dishwasher I won on ebay and was inspired by the new color, probably the last ever released by Maytag, and painted my dishwasher panels Metallic Blue! I'm probably going to regret it, but for now it's a very fun color and I like it much more on the machine than I did when the panels were in the garage. This pic is a bit lighter with a flash, I'll start a new thread with more pics later tonight.

Have a happy federal holiday!

hi greg...i like the blue norge tag...too bad it wasn't available last year when i moved to tucson and bought set of norge tags......

Colour, anyone?

Like the matallic blue! It's refreshing to see something beyond the usual appliance pallor! Greg, love the new tint on the d/w! Heck, it's just paint. If you get tired of it....redux time!! ;-)

As the shameful owner of an almond coloured fridge (1983), I am happy to see colour coming into kitchens again! What's up with that white on white crap? You walk into your kitchen or laundry room and can't see anything because of the "snowblindness"! American kitchens used to be so full of colour. I can't imagine that it affects the "bottom line" to throw a little tint into the paint! A memorable colour can make even the most BOL appliance look like royalty!

Say YAY for adventures in tinting! Maybe this is a little peek of colourful things to come!

Venus :-)

How Nice!

Greg,
Your Maytag is beautiful!
They will let you know that they are running!
How do you think it cleans?
Thanks for the pictures! I love the blue!
