This lead me to the unit, and article about DRM and detergent. That's right a dishwasher that requires you to use their detergent.  This article shows how to hack the DW so you can use your own at 1/75 the cost.

Bob was brought up in a discussion of countertop dishwashers in January 2021.

I wouldn't be surprised if autodosing detergent mechanisms for clothes washers curve that direction and touted for the convenience of automatic ordering/delivery of refill cartridges.

Saw an interesting analysis (thought I'd mentioned here before) where there was a serious analysis that P&G should start manufacturing/labeling/customizing dishwashers/washing machines strictly to get the consumables business...far better to have an apartment building put in a Cascade dishwasher and a Tide W/D for the perpetual business it generates. Razor/blades writ large. In the linked thread, the Techmoan review is very interesting...he's a man after our own heart (reviews obsolete/obsolescent electronics gear) and BOB reached out to him. He was skeptical, but the fit in his kitchen was so perfect he was sold. The "fill the reservoir" water worked well for him (and a gallon of water every 1-2 uses isn't onerous).

Looking at the 'Techmoan' video - and pausing it - the 'Bob' detergent appears to be as follows:

Compartment 1 is apparently detergent, composed of Sodium Hydroxide and Etidronic Acid, with phosphonates and polycarboxylates. However there is no chlorine bleach.

Compartment 2 is apparently the rinse-aid and seems to be composed of non-ionic surfactants, polycarboxylates, enzymes, Benzisthiazolinone and perfume.

Pretty weird to have enzymes in the rinse-aid, unless the rinse-aid is introduced earlier in the machine's programme.

And there seems to be no sign of a bleaching agent as far as I can see.

Tiny Countertop Dishwashers......

 

<span style="font-family: helvetica;">These seem to be popping up all over the place lately including Craigslist.  I am getting the feeling people aren't all that thrilled with them.  Has anyone here tried one?  I am specifically talking about these really small ones where you can put some water in the top and avoid having to connect to a faucet unless you want to.</span>
