Yeah, I'd rather go with one of the lowe modells, maybe something with less price... The Bosch's are really good even in the more budget focused lines. Things to mention are that the tub has to be fully stainless steel and the db-rating should be 46db or less. Recomandable are an Auto-cycle and a sanirinse feature either because they don't have heated drying so you get a hotter and longer final rinse for better drying. Also make sure they use the steamprotection-thing that should come with it (a thin metal plate which will be atached to the countertop to prevent damage) and tell them as often as possible they should open the machine when the cycle finished so the steam can evaporate out of the cabinet and the dishes get a better dry up.

Why so much,, $2500 really? Seems to be their newest model so doubtful anyone is going to be many user reviews so far. The top rated Boschs per Consumer Reports aren't even their most expensive models, it's the 2nd or 3rd model down for some reason or another and costs about $700. The more expensive ones didn't rate as high. That being that, the best performing model to date according to CR are the new Kenmore Elite.

"cold water is for their clothes"

What I meant was that they seem more like the "push Normal and be done with it" type of persons, so a dishwasher with loads of bells and whistles would seem like a waste of money.

That really ...

Sounds like a very nice and upmarket Bosch. Being an owner of a Siemens, both being manufactured at the same plant, I think, and can only attest to the absolute superb washing results. Our Siemens dishwasher is now five years old going on six and not a single problem up to date (touch wood). And might I add that it gets used every single day somedays even two - three times, as we entertain a lot.

That being said I would still like to own a Miele Dishwasher, and if your brother is going to drop that amount for a Bosch he might as well go for a Middle of the line Miele.

Well they are all three really good Dishwashers ( my sister also has a Bosch and she is very pleased with it). I can only speak for these German brands as in South Africa we don't get Maytag or Kenmore or Kitchenaid DW. LG & Samsung also tend to dominate the market but I think they are poorly manufactured and have very bad records to reliablitity. ( I can attest to the LG giving a load of problems instead of a load of clean dishes!! Overhyped, led driven, glitterboxes with gaudy ënd of the cycle tunes")

Ok that was my two cents

Hope they find the right one.

Cheers
