The reply from Stiftung Warentest to the reader's comment, run through Google Translate:

"According to the company Bosch Siemens Hausgeräte (BSHG), this is a batch from the production of February 2019. The Bosch, Siemens and Constructa brands with the FD number 9902 are affected. Customers can find the FD name on the nameplate . This is either on the inside of the door or on the back of the machine, according to the BSHG. About 1,200 devices in Germany are affected; a total of around 3,500 devices in several European countries. There is a risk of injury, according to BSHG, because when spinning at high speeds, the connection between the inner drum comes loose and, due to the mechanical force, machine parts could be accelerated so that they are thrown out of the cover plate of the device and can hit people at high speed. who are next to the device.
According to the manufacturer, all affected devices are replaced free of charge. Until then, affected customers should operate the machines with a maximum of 800 revolutions when spinning."

Ugh

So, they kinda came down to level of Candy/Hoover and Hotpoint?

I get the recalls because of electrical failures, especially with parts sourced externaly (like the whole door lock debacel by Hotpoint).
That happens, sucks, but sometimes fault conditions just can't be predicted.

With mechanical issues like this which sound just like basic cheaping out on a vital connection (sounds like they hint at a spider-drum connection issue) I just don't get it.
Those are pretty easy calculations to make.
That has to be an in-house part.

That should not happen.

"That should not happen."

Indeed it shouldn't.

I am wondering whether an automated robot-controlled part of the fabrication process went awry, or whether a human assembler simply 'forgot' to perform a certain step. Or possibly, a bolt/rivet/strut might have developed metal fatigue.

I wish manufacturers were just a little more forthcoming with the fault information in the first place.

The only UK Bosch safety recalls that I can see, are the gas hobs 2009-2011, and the dishwasher one 1999-2005.
