Bosch speed 60 cycle

Can anyone tell me the specs of Bosch’s speed 60 cycle? Does it use more water? More water cycle changes? Higher pressure? More hot water? Timed cycle instead of sensing?

I genuinely curious!

I’ve used it a couple times and really have been impressed how well it cleans. I would use it all the time if I had crystal dry option available .. but obviously it would defeat the purpose of “60 minute” wash cycle.

My Bosch has a 30 minute express cycle which I find really handy. It pre-washes for a minute and then you can hear a forceful pre wash for about 30 seconds then cuts back to normal, the whole process is about 3 or 4 minutes. Then it drains and goes into a wash cycle for about 10-12 minutes followed by a drain and rinse, the final drain starts at 28 minute mark and the final minute is just to let everything drip off.

It works really well for lightly soiled dishes , pots and pans etc.. When I'm done baking I just put the mixer bowls, dough hook, other bowls, spoons etc in there while whatever is baking,, do a general cleanup and voila everythings pretty much done and clean. You wouldn't do a Bob Load using it. I imagine you could with the 60 minute quick wash because it probably has longer and more rinses.

800 Series

 

<span style="font-family: helvetica;">I have a BOSCH 800 Series and this was what I could find in the User Manual.  I couldn't find any explanation of whether or not it sprays harder but it looks like the default amount of water is more than the minimum on the other cycles except heavy.  I suspect that is because it must not use the soil sensor in the Speed60 cycle.  I am guessing more water means it sprays harder.  I have used the Speed60 cycle a few times and have also been pleased with it on a lightly soiled load.  </span>

 

<span style="font-family: helvetica;">Lately though I have become really spoiled by the heavy cycle because my loads are generally pretty dirty and I don't pre-rinse.  I was using Auto most of the time but the Heavy uses hotter water and the dishes come out with that squeaky feel that I don't get on other cycles even using the Sanitize additional option.  It does use more water so I suspect it sprays harder too and the overall cycle time isn't that much longer.</span>

Most likely.

From it's makeup, it'd almost guess it's the EU Eco cycle with SpeedPerfect selected (Or VarioSpeed or what they call it by now).
That's 1:05, has main-wash at 50C, heated intermediate rinse and final rinse plus dry.

For the US, I'd dare to say it runs a high fill prewash to get water as hot as possible into the machine for the pre-wash.
At 15l almost it might even do 2 prewashes, a 4-fill-cycle is often round about 12l.

So my guess might be pre-rinse, pre-rinse, main-wash, rinse, rinse, dry.

But I'd almost be certain they use a higher spray pressure.

They have variable speed pumps in any DW by now (last thing I know at least).
So to get maxiamal cleaning that would only make sense.

Alternating Wash Arms

 

<span style="font-family: helvetica;">Henrik, Do you think its' running all the wash arms at the same time on the Speed60 or still alternating?  I remember the last time I ran the Speed60 it seems it almost sounded like they were all going at the same time.</span>

Not actually sure.

I *think* the diverter has a position for that.
I don't *know* though.

While it would make sense, I don't think it would.

My Miele dosen't at least.

Thing is that even being a variable speed pump, needed wattage would probably double with both running.
And I think higher pressure is worth more over longer exposure.

And considering water usage, I don't think that would fit into the budget.

Alternating in a 60/60 fashion would probably be enough still and offer the advantage of soaking and scrubbing in alternation.

I haven’t sat there and listened to the dishwasher on speed 60 cycle yet. But I do think it’s louder as in pressure when washing dishes. Wish there was a way to hack it and use crystal dry! Just nice to unload the dishwasher an hour after dinner!

Ralph, I have the 800 series too! I have yet to use the heavy option. I feel the dishwasher cleans so well on auto, pleasantly surprised that it cleans in just under 3 hours- including extended dry option.

Heavy vs. Auto..

 

<span style="font-family: helvetica;">Tom, you are right.  The machine does clean really well on Auto.  I've used Auto the first couple of years we've had this machine and been happy with the results.  Then I ran Heavy on an especially challenging load.  It was then that I noticed they seemed cleaner to me.  It's that squeaky kind of feeling when you unload the machine.  I don't get it on Auto.  I must be because the wash water is a little hotter and it uses a little more water in the wash on the Heavy cycle.  The temps in the rest of the sequences are pretty much the same.  I also always use the Sanitize and Extra Dry regardless which cycle I use.  </span>

 

<span style="font-family: helvetica;">I remember as a kid my Mom always used that 180 degree SaniCycle in her Kitchen Aid.  When you unloaded the dishwasher you could feel that squeaky kind of clean.  For whatever reason I really like to feel that when I unload the machine.  I know it's unnecessary but it's the little things in life.......... </span>

The speed cycle should use both arms at the same time with a strong running pump. Our 800 series does and you can hear it. Ours is running at this moment and I can hear it switch spray arms on "Auto".

Ralph, I know what you mean by squeaky clean! I notice it on rubber spatulas, they don’t always feel clean. Some loads do feel squeaky clean on auto but if it’s an oily load, yes heavy should be used!
