The Acoustic Wave II that came out a few years ago got a jolt of volume and range over the original design (plus an additional driver)...I'm using it now, three rooms away--sounds great...and will be using it for my upcoming summer parties outdoors.

 

Acoustic Wave II + Apple Airport Express + iPad Remote = endless, cordless musical nirvana.

I have an older bose wave radio without the cd player. I think it sounds great. What you have to do with it is try different areas of the room which it is in. I have found that the higher up it is the better the sound is. I had it on the refig in the kitchen and the sound was good but once i put it on top of the cabinets the sound improved 100%. It seems the higher the better. The bass increased considerably once it was higher. You might try different areas and heights to see if yours changes the sound quality. Have had no problems with mine and I use it daily for hours on end.
