Damn!

I wish this was local. I'd snap it up in a hot New York minute!

I want so badly to replace my 2008 range and matching microwave with one of these.

Look closely

it says and resembles a GE, but I'm thinking it is really a Roper produced hi-lo from the very late 1980's early 1990's.

New GE Hi-Low Range

These were the last design of GEs great Hi-Low electric ranges, these came out after GEs acquisition of Ropers manufacturing plants, remember WP got the Roper name and GE got the factories.

In any event Leslie is correct that these were late 80s-the early to mid 90s. After GE got Ropers factories they started to build many of their wall ovens and 30" ranges in Ropers plants. This was a real cheapening of GEs range line, you could just look at them and see the cheapness.

On the range for sale you can see that GE still built the upper oven in the same way they always had but the lower half is Roper. The good news is that GE redesigned their wall ovens and ranges in the later 90s and got back to build some decent quality cooking products again.

But I would go to any effort to have the range in the ad in my kitchen, there are far too many of the real GE Hi-Low ranges out there in great shape to brother with this cheapened hi-bread. The real find for someone who actually likes to cook is one of the GE Hi-Low Versatronic cooking centers with the combination LOWER oven. I recently purchased another one of these in white from 1967 for the museum kitchen.
