I often hear the same musical jingle and "Brand Power® Helping You Buy Better" tag line on a variety of products. So I decided to locate a Website. It even contains video streams of some of the product ads. However, I don't get how this ad campaign actually helps us buy better? Perhaps this thing is overrated? Or is it?--Laundry Shark

It's Advertising Pure And Simple

On the website, the folks at Brand Power come clean:
"Brand Power is an advertising product used by leading manufacturers and their advertising agencies as a different method for promoting their brands. It's different from traditional advertising as it focuses on providing rational information about grocery products. The aim of Brand Power television commercials, informative catalogues, even this web site, is to provide you with 'Facts and Value' through information."
Of course the information is filtered through the lens of the advertiser, with the hope you'll pick up the product at the store. In short, it's advertising pure and simple--but don't mistake it for "Consumer Reports" or one of the many product opinion websites.

I thought it was just a Canadian tv ad always featuring this wholesome lady describing some product or another but I see it's not an they use a different woman in each country LOL It's an inexpensive method for companies to put on a tv ad though where all the ads are done the same way, same spokes-person, same set. Probably pay a flat rate too for a 30 sec spot.

there's always been a need for this type of consolidated product advertising...back in "the day" it was "Nancy Sasser" writing a column in Better Homes and Gardens, I think.
