And is that a Connie Francis record?

Jason,

I'm laughing as I write this.....Are you sure that you're straight??? Anyone who can identify a Connie Francis record from that picture has the "gift"!! LOL

I'm just having fun with ya, Jason!!!

Thanks for the kind comments on the players. They don't compare to that beauty that you recently got :-)

Wow! I am in total awe!

I grew up in Massachusetts, so I can remember Brimfield. Well, sort of. I remember that it was huge, anyway.

Would LOVE to make it back up for the wash-in, though I doubt it'll happen. Still, I'm not saying no just yet!

That vacuum is a Sunbeam Touch 'n Go. Odd little bugger, what with the brushroll and the front-mounted motor. But since it's a Sunbeam, I automatically love it!

Veg,

I do hope that you can find a way to come up here for the wash-in. It's looking like there will be a group of us going to Brimfield on Friday. This will be a blast!

Thanks for the info on the Sunbeam! I find that I gravitate to anything made by Sunbeam as well. Stylish and well made!!!

Veg,
you really need to come to our wash-in. Believe me, you will have the time of your life. Caravan up with someone.

GE Toaster Oven

Have the same unit which was also MIB when nabbed from eBay, and LOVE to death. Only problem is even on "dark" sometimes toast must be done twice to reach the correct level desired.

Unlike today's toasters, this unit does not send toast popping up when ready, but rather it coasts up slowly. If the bread is too thick or gets stuck neither side will rise and the heat will stay on. This can not only lead to burnt toast or whatever one was making, but a potential fire as well. This is because the heating element does not go off until the toast rises above a certian level. When the unit is switched to "bake" and one is using the oven, this is not a problem.

These units are built for the duration! Heavy and solid, just the thing Mrs. June Cleaver would have had on her breakfast table.

Fels Flakes,

IIRC Fels flakes started production around the 1940's or 1950's, with "Instant" Fels coming later towards the 1960's. Fels flakes basically were Fels Naptha soap already in flake form, to save housewives the bother of grating up soap on laundry/cleaning day.

My parents had Brylcreem Presents: Sing Along With Connie Fancis on the Mati-Mar label (If I'm not mistaken).

And no, you don't have to be gay to love Connie. I love female singers because of their voices. Nothing like the female voice! The prettiest musical instrument of all. And I love Connie's voice as well as her looks hehe. Now there's str8 wisdom for ya LOL.

GE Toaster Oven

Hi Launderess,

They do look to be built like tanks. I am going to have to fiddle with mine as it's not working. I plug it in and nothing happens. It may be a connection. I can't understand it since it looks like it was hardly to never used.

Thanks for the info on the Fels Naptha! I could have bought bars of old Fels Naptha, from the same guy, but they didn't seem to have any "smell" left to them but at $2 a bar maybe I should have picked up a few for display! Oh well...live and learn :-)

Thanks,
R

Hi Jason,

I was just floored that you could spot and identify the record from the bad picture!! I'm impressed :-)

Connie does have a great voice and she was quite something in her day! Someday I will tell you the story about when I met her luggage!!

I'll keep my eyes opened for any CF records for you!

Vintage Fels

Vintage does not have a strong fragrance, but rather the fresh clean "scent" of Naptha. *LOL* According to the ingredient listed on the side of my vintage bars, some of which are over 40 years old, Fels does contain fragrance. Again have never found this scent over powering, and more like a fresh clean scent.

Two dollars a bar seems a bit much, I've purchased 30 or so bars on eBay auctions for about $28. Guess when one considers shipping costs the final price may have been near $1.20 per bar.

GE Toaster
Sorry to hear you are having trouble with yours, mine has worked a treat right out of the box. Try switching the selector to "oven" and press down the lever with the oven tray removed. From this you can see if the unit is heating up or not.

KA 4C mixer

Hey I just acquired that same KA mixer, model 4c. Actually my Mom spotted it at a thrift shop, paid $40 for mine, so I think you got a good deal. Mine was very dirty but cleaned up great.

Launderess,

Thanks for the tips. I now have a better idea as to the value on the F-N soap :-)

Tolivac,

I think nostalgia is what attracts most of us to this hobby. Thanks for sharing the memory. Did the Kenmore blender have a larger jar for the top?

Mixedup,

Congrats. I think that they have the nicest lines! I great (heavy) machine. I don't think, from what I've seen, that $40 is too much. Enjoy!!

Somewhere I have a recipe book for that machine--my Mom gave it to me-have to look for it after two or three moves-in one of those book boxes--I kept it in a "special" place so I wouldn't loose it-will have to look over the weekend. The picture on the cover of the book looks like the machine that was in the picture.I also have the recipe book-beleive it is "Mary Meades Magic Recipes for the electric Blender"My Mom gave me those when I told her I got a Vita-mix-She went to her book cabinet and said-"Can you use these"?-"Of course"--I said. They even had 'shake and smoothie recipes back then!!I try to ferret out any other older blender recipe book.also have the "Mary Meade" book that has the Osterizer blenders.-60's I beleive it was.Got that one at an old bookstore.

Instant Fels Chips

Rich, My grandmother used to use Instant Fels Naptha for her whites. This was in the late fifties to early sixties. So, I think these chips has to be from the 40's or early 50's
