Webmaster: Feel free to delete this in a couple of weeks. Don't wanna waste space with pics.

Here are some pics taken from a landmarked district of New York City in the borough of Brooklyn (city's name). The state BTW calls the same area Kings County). It is called Brooklyn Heights.

This is a rather highly deisred area for its:
Proximity to the island of Manhattan (downtown New York City).

The views of the river, of Manhattan, the view of Statue of Liberty, the Promenade (paved cobble-stone and concrete park with benches overlooking the city.)

Interestingly, underneath the Promenade is the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway linking guess which two areas? Nearby are the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges linking Brooklyn (geograpically => Long Island, politcally=> NYC) and The island of Manhattan. ("Core" NYC).

The buidlng I looked at today for purposes of an appraisal is NOT shown here but was involved with the "Underground Railroad". THAT WAS WILD.

Maybe this will divert our attention, however briefly, from the twisted weather patterns of late.

Here we go, ready....

Brooklyn Heights, NY

Brownstones (townhouses) from mid 1800s. These came with gas-lights, very tall ceiling, and stables for horses.

The opening of the bridges made this area hugely popular and a place for country-fresh air. HA!

They were one stately private homes and are now aparmtent buidlngs.

Two Brownstone, semi-detached, The rear of these homes, BTW faces the river and has SPECTACULAR views of the southern tip of the island of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty.

No longer visible are the Twin towers :-( which would have been on the west side of the southern tip of the island. These homes have have a view of the east side of the island.

Nearby Street.
Facing north.

Brooklyn Bridge in the front.
Manhattan Bridge to the rear.

East river is to the left (west).

"Watchtower" building complex to the right, and left with "bridge" over the street.
(Clue: Jehovah's Witness headquarters.)
Watchtower, BTW is also the name of their recruiting magazine.

That is some mighty expensive real-estate!

Brooklyn Bridge in background.
Brooklyn Navy yard (part of Port Authority) below.

Manhattan Island (top and sorta left)

Empire State Buidlng, pointly little thing on right.

(Appears to be at bottom of Bridge's suspesnion wires.)
Here is it QUITE a sdistance away.

Brooklyn Heights, NY

and just south of the above pic (panning left), we have.....

Miss Liberty herself.... The Statue of Liberty

Attached to Miss Liberty is Governor's Island. Technically the Island and Miss Liberty are partially in New York State and Partially in (the state of ) New Jersey. They fought.
Neither won. I'm not sure, but some utilites are from one state and some from the other. Who remebers?

I got a helicopter in there and a boat for ya too.....

Isn't that where the Patty Duke show was?

Meet Cathy, who's lived most everywhere,
From Zanzibar to Barclay Square.
But Patty's only seen the sight.
A girl can see from Brooklyn Heights --
What a crazy pair!

Brooklyn Heights, NY

Basement of house involved in "Underground Rail Road"

Not much to see, but it is seven or eight homes from the river and each opened a door to the other and they were interlinked at one time.

This basementt has an opening to light and the elements which is VERY odd in general .. but not if there were illegal rooms down there to hide people.
