Thanks for the pictures, I should have gone to Brooklyn in June. Well, it's on my "Things To Do On My Next Trip to New York List". I saw Brooklyn from the other side, from Pavilion Pier 17. Here's a picture.

The very first thing I thought when I read "Brooklyn Heights" was "But Patty's only seen the sights..."
Apparently, I had a misspent youth.
Kinda makes me think of the definition of a true intellectual: one who can hear the William Tell Overture and not think of The Lone Ranger...

That area is used for filming lotsa moves because it works from late 1800 to present.

The building featured on Sesame Street is similar to that style as well, as is what's-her-face's apt buildng-- Harlot oh excuse me Charlotte-- no no Carey in Sex and the City.

P.S. our front doors are frequently off the ground:
1)- so that basements can have windows
2-) so that snow does not block them......get it? LOL
In larger buidlngs the front door is BELOW the level of the sidewalks (with a drain opening at the base plumbed into the sewere) so the old bored yentas don't throw folding chairs and congregate outside the main entrances and tear to shreds each pretty young thang that sachets by..

Thanks for sharing pics of the Heights. 5 years ago I did some consulting work for a company in Brooklyn and I lived in a great apt. at 51 Remsen St. for about 6 months. Great food at the area restaurants! But parking was a real problem, some nights I drove around for an hour looking for a parking space!
I used to run on the Promenade every morning (entrance was at the end of my street) and I always remember looking at the twin towers first thing in the morning and how beautiful they looked in the early morning light. I met some great people who worked there, and one great lady, may she rest in peace, perished in the disaster.

Great Pictures, When at class at the Trade Center, I loved to walk along the area by Battery park and Chelsey Pier at lunchtime, I love NY.

The Chelsea Piers (west side of Manhattan facing New Jersey) have been re-done and are now a beautiful park and set of piers.
From south to north on the west side of Manhattan we have:
Greenwich Village
Chelsea
Hell's Kitchen--now re-named Clinton. (helps real estate values just a tad..LOL)
So technically and actually speaking, Chelsea is under Clinton......
