Couldn’t resist the novelty factor — a matched set and good ol’ Montgomery Ward! Haven’t unloaded them from the truck yet but wanted to share pics. Undoubtedly WCI/Westinghouse by the looks of the agitator with I’m guessing indexing tub. Other than a big rusty scratch on top of the dryer, they are very clean. Pretty deluxe with all those cycle options!

Hope to get them hooked up this week and see how they operate.

very cool :)

Franklin machines-probably from the early 1980s(I'll check my '82 MW catalog and see if they appear in there :)Indeed indexing tub-probably a little faster agitation than 27" version with 5-vane angel wing. These franklin washers do have several strong points including:decent clutch belt, all iron tranny, good tub seal, good pump protector, strong pump performance. When the pump is running in reverse, during agitation,a thrashing water sound can be heard from it-along with the rrrrRRRRrrrrRRRR... sound from the tranny.

Great find! I always loved watching the indexing tub of a Franklin-based washer. Had a 1986-ish and a 2005 Frigidaire. While not exactly impressive in the rollover department, these machines are unfazed by even wildly unbalanced loads. It'll spin almost anything. Have fun; hope they don't require much work to get them up and running.

Nice find! I didnt know there was a portable machine just like this. I wouldve assumed they were an impellor, like a rebadged Hitachi.

Would you be able to get us a video?

Thank you all for the wonderful comments! Did a maiden wash and dry today in both machines (after a once-over cleaning/lubricating, etc.) and that washer is amazing. Infinite water level, lint filter, two-speed, and capacity a little more than I thought. Upon my inspection, saw “03-24-84” stamped on the pump. Funny that it’s only three days off from my birthday (well, I was born 03-21-64) but still kinda cool. Dryer of course at 115V, is a little slow, but a trouper. Will try to post videos soon.
