I am now the owner of a pair of swivel lounge chairs by Burke.

I had absolutely no intention to buy them. I decided to clean out the guest bedroom. I wanted it to be an actual bedroom instead of my junk storage. I either donated or threw out the majority of stuff. Anyway, I wanted something to put blankets in. Like a cedar chest or credenza or something neat and mid-century looking. My quest turned up nothing but somehow I ended up with two Burke chairs in my Jeep.

I probably paid too much for them, but they do look good in the spare room. They don't hold blankets very well, but I found other storage space.

Things like this don't come around too often around here. Kansas seems like a 'cool vintage furniture and appliance dead-zone'. It's hard for me to find good mid-century pieces within my budget. Even estate sales are slim pickings. If overstuffed sofas and black laquer glass top end tables were my thing, I'd have a treasure trove.

Here's a picture of one of the chairs. It would have turned out better if I could figure out how to hold a bloody camera steady.

Wow!

Your black and white combo is very elegant and classic! I have a similar Burke chair. Mine is black with a green cushion and a polished aluminum base on casters. It was originally sold to an architecture firm in Dallas (where it was made according to the cushion tag). I got it twenty years ago after they bought all new office furniture. It's very high quality and quite comfortable.
