Well as most of you know by now, Rite Aid took over eckards and soon there will be no more eckards. I am deeply sddend by this, as i remember eckards from being knee high to a grass hopper.. Any way i bought several bottles of eckards brand laundry detergent, itll be fine for us and i want to keep one bottle as a momento to Eckards..

Same w/ Brooks. All Brooks/Eckerd brand items are 50% off. Thought I could rape and pillage the first aid section but someone beat me to it! Oh well.

The change isn't a biggie for me 'cause I grew up w/ Rite Aid as the only neighborhood drug in Cheektowaga, NY, anyway.

Yeah, the Eckerds here are becoming Rite Aids, too. No matter. I find all the current stores of that type depressing and can’t stand the smell of any of them. I usually buy my HBAs at the local supermarket or Target, so it’s no loss to me whatever any of those stores become. Nevertheless, yet another consolidation of a retail chain is lamentable.

Thanks.

Our Eckerd's is transitioning as well.

The only thing I ever liked about Eckerd's is that their shampoo selection was way bigger than any of the other stores. My mom is a voracious reader of mass-market paperbacks, and Eckerd's had a good selection as well.

In the drugstore wars, I'm definitely a Walgreens' partisan. I like their selection and quality of merchandise, and their private-label products are IMHO excellent (and they sell ALL powdered detergent!)

IMHO, CVS is too expensive and I don't like Rite Aid's selection of merchandise. If I could pick what would replace my neighborhood's Eckerd, I think I'd pick Duane Reade.

Eckerd

Eckerd's was bought out by CVS here in 2005. Never cared for Eckerd. VERY overpriced in comparison to Walgreens. CVS has done a great job transitioning into the Central Florida market. I find their prices to be reasonable, they have great sales and they honor Walgreens coupons.
I would love to see Rite-Aid enter the Florida market.I grew up with that chain as well as Genovese Drug, which later became Eckerd.

RiteAid vs CVS vs. Wallgreens... might as well be Kmart vs.

Always preferred independent drugstores. Better service, people who actually appreciate your business, and no massive database of your medical history accessible from anywhere in the country.

For the nostalgic sorts (none of those on this board!) the best ones still have soda fountains with counter service in them. Sadly, there isn't one of these where I live now, but there's still one in my hometown.

LoL Same Detergent, Diffrent Name
Yeah it works fine in daily use

I go to medicap for my scripts and such...
