Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

During air conditioning season, I would bet that you would really love the heat this throws into the room, unless you were buying it to use as a sideboard.

A sales person at the gas company said that with the UltraRay broiler, you could put a tray of ice cubes in the bottom of the compartment while broiling a steak and the steak would be done before the ice melted. I said that was because it used infra-red heat like an electric broiler which did not need an separate compartment and brought that pitch to a screeching halt.

That's a 1962-ish

Caloric Heritage model... I"ve been lusting after one of those for years. One came up on CL recently but it was over 5 hrs away, and I just didn't have the time or truck to go get it...waaaaah! :-(

I've had gas ranges (with standing pilots) in the past, and never noticed a problem with the heat.  My first experience was when I bought a house in 1978 and it came with a Hardwick 'Debutante' range (high/low range) with 4 standing pilot lights.  My most recent was my former residence where I had a 1957 Kenmore 36" range with griddle, once again, with 4 standing pilot lights.  The sad truth is that I never cook, but I do like having the non-dependance on electricity.  I've lived in Atlanta long enough to have experienced several ice storms and no power, and it would be nice to know if/when that happens again I could fire up the range and warm up some food or prepare coffee, etc.  I do have gas hot water and a fireplace - all I need is the range and then I would feel pretty confident that I could stay right here for several days without power.

I'm always on the lookout for a zoomy gas range.  If something similar shows up locally, I'll probably make the switch.

The link you posted goes to a Dwyer kitchen in Atlanta.

I cook a lot on my gas stove in the summer, heat is not bad, but I have a ceiling fan in the kitchen to disperse it.

caloric

This is the one just like my Mom had from 1977. What a complete disaster. The upper oven and the gas top worked ok but the main oven was a disaster. After caloric replaced the range 4 times in 3 years my mother went to a single oven Roper she still has.
On the caloric the main oven would constantly die when cooking and or self cleaning. It is amazing how they never could get it right. Major problems with the ignator. It did look nice and when it worked (seldom) it was good. Sort of like the LG in it's day.
This one was just like ours but in white!

The Calorics with the "clamshell" type of backguard were stunning.  They made  a  very nice nightlight,  or ambient lighting when having  a get together. alr
