Here's a shot of the very same Calypso from the wash-in last October. You can't really tell from the picture, but when the load was dry, it came all the way up to the top. After it became properly saturated, though, the turnover was great, and SPLASHY was an understatement!

do the Calypso washers have the same kind of spin mechanism
as the direct drive washers in diagnostic pictures I have it looks the same

I did a video this evening of a moderate-size load of whites, on the Whitest Whites cycle. It's not yet pulled from the camera. Video quality viewing on a TV isn't as good as I hoped, and I'm still learning the settings on the camera, but I suppose it'll do. The video is the complete cycle from start to finish. Hopefully I can edit it into shorter sequences.

Oh, and in regards to the washing action, here's a tidbit ... I got this remark upon previewing a bit of footage -- "It ate a sock."
