I don't know if that email originated from our bobofhollywood or not. Seems awfully nasty and that is not the Bob I have dealt with. He's always been nice to me.
Of course, we all have our moments...just recently I was called a Nazi, bully and jackass by some of the less tolerant folks around here. A new low, even for them.
Seems lots of folks are on edge these days, not surprising given the economic melt-down and so on (lots of so-on, but don't want to stir *that* pot).
Why don't you just write him and ask?
I wouldn't take it personally either way...people who stoop to that level are beneath notice.

I appreciate your positive attitude and outlook towards this. I can't really feel the same when someone outright calls me an ASS for no reason at all. At least I can't think of a reason.

I can't really say I blame the economy either. That would imply that this person can't afford to pick up a machine but that wasn't the case. I don't know. It was just a mean thing to do. I've had nothing but good intentions and I only put in effort for that machine because someone told me I should. I didn't really care otherwise so I'm glad he got it. Keep treating people that way and that's all they'll have unfortunately.

I didn't mean it's excusable, just, some people engage their tongues before they start their brains.
Others, sadly, mean it.
Whatever the case, life's too short to let it haunt you. If Bob wrote it, I think he should apologize. If he didn't, then someone is causing mischief. Either way, nobody needs this...

I hate the drama and I actually feel bad for posting this. I just didn't know if it was a current member because I wanted this kind of behavior to be called out. My understanding is this has been a problem with this person before and they had been banned. For good reason apparently...

To be honest, I sort of got a chuckle out of it. i know we all take our hobby of washer collecting seriously, but WOW! That's pretty hillarious to take it THAT seriously and actually get catty about it.

I also agree with Panthera. For whatever reason(s) Mr. Wirth had a wild hair growing, and decided to take his aggression on you, don't take it personally.

In my line of work, I get these types of emails all the time. I just shrug them off ( first, I do have to laugh hysterically and, second, have to show them to all of my co-workers ), but I don't reply to them and I don't let them bother me. If they want to talk with me, they will do it with civility.

Since I've been here, you've helped more than a few people here at AW, when they were in need, so, in my book, one sour apple doesn't make the bunch sour.

How anyone can attack Jon who always tries to be so helpful to other club members is beyond me. Many of us here have suffered the wrath of hate mail from Bob Wirth,his mood swings and his vile,despicable attacks. He has even gone as far to wish cancer on me in one email.
As far as I know, he is no longer a member of AW.Org and notice since he has left and a few others how nice and pleasant the threads are now?
I for one will NO LONGER make excuses for his behavior or continue to be his punching bag.

Have had my share of emails from screwballs, sadly from here in the group as well. I refuse to let my good nature be broken by some bitter Crufts looser.

It's not even worth bothering with, so don't waste your precious time. You know you are loved!

By the way, there's a name for that person ,only it isn't used in polite society, outside of a kennel.
 
I'm still relatively new here and maybe I shouldn't say anything...but this kind of thing seems happen more often in groups and organizations with a lot of gay men.

Now, I know not all of us on here are gay, but I know quite a few of us are and I have found this type of behavior all too common in various other groups and organizations that I have belonged to.

Sometimes I think its people wanting to be the center of attention...

Thanks for clarifying folks. He's already banned from the site so no big deal. I didn't respond to him and I block his email address. For the record I DID crack up at it. But that kind of stuff SHOULD bother me as well. I won't give people like that what they want which is a response. I just like to call them out. ZipDang...I'm counting the days man! only a couple more months and we'll be there full-time! Laundry will never be the same for me again once I get there...imagine doing laundry in a Maytag, GE, Kenmore, and Westinghouse!!! It's like a dream!

Seriously though, sending an email to you like that was very rude and uncalled for. I cannot blame you for taking it personally or being offended. I know I would be. At least he isn't on the boards anymore.

I think it is great that you did what you did and got that washer for another club member. And who cares if he has that washer running in his basement right now? Damn shame we can't stick his attitude in there and clean it up, because it could certainly do with a bit. Well at least you can just delete the email and block him.

Jon, I will send you an email. That REALLY sucked, but the way you're handling it and your attitude toward it are spot on.

I will say publicly however that you ROCK and I am most honored to count you among my friends. There just aren't enough people in the world like you, as I know many here already know. I'm thrilled to the buttons that we will soon share a coast, and I can't wait to see you guys again, to know you better and to meet the other Portland people I am currently reminded are there as well! :-)

Well, I may not always handle things the best way possible but I tend to have a big mouth. When I know someone is doing something terribly wrong I like to tell everyone about it. Of course this was easy "cut and paste".

It's funny that you want to meet the Portland people. It always appears that you California boys are always having the most fun. I have GOT to go to one of those "Mini wash-ins". Portland is going to be alot of fun though. We've gotten to know Patrick really well the past year and I know we'll meet many others in the near future.

I just hope you don't have to have a big fancy house to have a wash-in because ours isn't. However, Portland and Seattle have tons of great machines so I know there will be plenty to play with between all of us who will be there.

I look forward to your email and PLEASE try not to call me an ass when you write it. :-)

We do have a lot of fun here in Cali, Jon! You visit CA anytime (I'm so happy you will be closer now!), and especially liking GE products as you do, you would LOVE the mini washins!

Jon, for me and probably for most people, it's not about who lives where or has or does not have what. I consider myself blessed to be living in this time period. I have friends all over the country and world thanks to clubs like this and the internet generally, and I hate to think of all the great people I would have missed were that not so. All are special in their own way and I'm glad they're a part of me. You're no different!

Yes, I've had difficulties with Mr. Wirth in the past.

Fortunately, it did stop of its own accord.

There IS an extenuating circumstance that, if you were to be harassed further and wanted to take steps to stop it, MIGHT cause you to just sort of leave the whole situation alone, but, if he doesn't bother you anymore, it's neither here nor there.

Email me if you experience more harassment.

I am sorry you have to experience this sort of distraction.

I've learned that sometimes it's just better to leave a thing alone, if you're not in a situation to help.

Looks like that was fairly predictable. We just didnt know who'd be the "lucky" recipient. The full moon is today, Friday 21-Mar-08. Being that it is Good Friday for "y'all" this is not a good day to go flaming anyone! (Is it ever a good day for that?)May the "DELETE" key be your best friend.

When I get stuff like that, I simply say oh yeah? Let's play race cars! Bend over. I'll drive!

I was channeling Miss Paula Deen when I said Y'all...gawd dont ask me why my Southern Maine drawl comes out.
One thing I have found fun is the Wii system that we got. I bought the Smash Brothers game and man is that fun. when I feel the need to kick some ass it helps get the frustration out.
Full moon huh..no wonder I feel the need to howl...ARRRRROOOOO!
 
Illness

I truly believe we have to cut the mentally ill some slack. I'm not talking about the usual whack-jobs and dim-wits running around like me, I mean the genuinely ill.
But that does not excuse such behavior.
There are people on this site who regularly help other people - I've been a frequent beneficiary - who, themselves are racked with pain, suffering the indignities of chronic and, yes, terminal illness but still manage to be graceful and kind.
I won't sit in judgment; I'm healthy and (don't laugh) of sound mind. But enough is enough and I think it is time to just drop the whole thing.
Someone suggested such drama was typical of gay groups. I disagree, just log onto any general computing blog and dare to say anything which is true and disparaging about MAC OS or Apple in general - the drama ensuing therof makes us aging queens all look dignified. Or try explaining to my heterosexual red-neck relations why bailing out private banks is the epitomy of socialism, not captialism...
We will continue to disagree about various topics, agree about others and, all in all, enjoy ourselves. Maybe it is time to just drop this discussion and forget about it. At best, it isn't productive - I fear we all now know Bob has a cruel streak. At worst, it just feeds perverted anger.
Jon didn't deserve it, we have shown our affection for him. Bob is gone, for better or worse.
