Can anyone identify this 1980's Kenmore washer?

Hey all! Rare an older machine turns up in my area. Especially one not left to freeze outside. Have a family member who saw the one I'm currently working on and told me they would appreciate a vintage machine.

I can pick this unit up for cheap. Runs, rust free and low use apparently. But this is the only picture I have to work off of. Someone selling for an elderly fella so no way to get other pics without a hassle to seller. Is this a belt drive machine? Worst case it can be some spare parts. Save me a drive lol. Post-1992 model Kenmore 70 series direct drive washer made for the Canadian market. Sweet find! Definitely go for it if you can!

Looks like a direct drive, and identical to several very popular US models minus the panel color and labeling. The US models had a Heavy Duty Cycle with an extra rinse segment that was either disconnected internally and blacked out on the console, pictured and had to be manually advanced, or could be activated automatically via a 3rd extra rinse switch. Timer also included Permanent Press, Normal, Soak and Prewash. Either Prewash or soak was blanked out on some models.

 

Typically these had a 5 position water level switch and a hot/warm, warm/warm, hot/cold, warm/cold, cold/cold temp switch. Some models had ATC. A 3rd extra rinse knob was sometimes included.

 

 

Here is the US version.  My guess is that everything is 100% identical to the Canadian model except for the panel color and labeling of the cycles/options.

Was gone the next day sadly.

Cool to hear it was an older direct drive unit. Someone got a nice machine! Its around the same age as my daily Admiral DD unit thats been around almost my whole life, But my controls look much more "modern" so that threw me off. That and the side lid.

Thanks to Steven and Chetlaham for the information! Always keeping a lookout for more vintage machines available locally to me! Want to get a few more while I still can as the world becomes more and more wasteful.
