They crop up here under several names like Amica, Finlux, and another I cant remember.

Its probably made in the EU/China in one of a number of factory`s dedicated to providing baseline machines for a number of companies including Bosch...I`ve seen a lot worse and with two yr warranty doesnt seem bad....Shanon how does the price compare to other Aus front loaders etc & is it a hot & cold fill with no heater perhaps??

Hello, I work in a big retailer store and we sell a budget Zanussi washing machine that is like this one. It is for sure Made in China.

To get a similarly spec'd Electrolux machine you would be looking at close to double the price....
These are made in China (but I'm rapidly getting to the 'who cares' stage now) and there has been one review on www.productreview.com.au that I have posted below. He/She seems happy enough....So given the 2yr warranty and low price, seems like it could be OK....

What about Asko too? All to often the M word is mentioned when quality or standards are in the same sentence yet there are so many other brands offering so so so much more.
I only say because it can get really rather tiresome reading Miele this and Miele that when actually there are other machines with equal if not better quality out there.
Not a direct shot at you Ronhic but rather one we can all use to our advantage to stop this forum becoming rather boring like it seems to have become by having some variety and other explorations and conversations.
Plenty of machines out there that dont need to have their doors slammed as a sign that they wont break down for 15 years

ENOUGH LOOKING AT IT!. its a really bad BDA unreliable washing machine from aldi (cheaper THAN chips) and they break. ive seen 3 installed. two of them the motor packed it in within the month and the other one had an electrical fault that short circuited the house. haha you can look but i advise you not to get it.

...you are correct, but the feedback from various retailers I have heard is that Asko quality is not what it used to be - at all. ASEA was a different kettle of fish, so to speak, but since Merloni and the name change from Asko-ASEA to Asko, there appears to have been a drop in overall quality.....

Budget machine
This would be a good machine for someone with a limited budget to buy, they would be able to do their washing while at the same time saving some dollars to buy a new higher quality machine some time in the future, I would not think one would buy one of these with the express thought that this will be a machine to last for years and years.

Mention one brand that has a better quality standard than Miele and maintained it for such a long time.
There have been several interesting brands. I always had a soft spot for AEG, but nowadays AEG's are nothing more than luxury Zanussi machines.
Hoover made some great machines as well, but alas their quality standards went down hill.
Asko certainly never achieved the same standard, I've seen a lot of problems with them overhere in the Netherlands. A while ago somebody offered all his Asko appliances on an auction site, willing to trade them for ANY other brand because of the issues with Asko. Even when in the Asea era they weren't of the quality expected. There were wonderful sets in all kind of colors. After ten years most owners had traded them in for something else. Most of them sure didn't last as long as most Mieles.
V-Zug is an interesting brand, I sort of introduced this club to the Zug's. I really like the brand, but there is no evidence yet that they will last as long as Mieles. The commercial machines sure will, but that is comparing apples to pears. The residential machines were rebadged AEG's for a long time. Only later Zug made their own residential machines. One thing I don't like about Zug is that they use Bauknecht machines for their cheaper line.
Cordes was a high quality brand, but couldn't keep up with the competition. Other German brands lost their independency like Constructa and Matura. Their names were used for slapping it on appliances on other brands in order to get a bigger market share for the companies that bought those brands up. Like it happened with several British brands.
Hearing the Miele name all the time can be boring indeed. Actually I find my Miele frontloader boring sometimes. I don't watch it as often as my other machines. But it's not Miele's fault that they are well built and other machines aren't.

Was just a name used by the (now defunct) furniture store MFI on its appliances. The washers were just rebadged Antoni Merloni intergrated machines I believe, unless they had machines made by another company as well.
I would have said Samsung, but the Samsung machine it looks like had an oval door and this one appears to have a round door.

It is unfortunate that in this day and age there really aren't very many great brands left.
Miele is definitely the exception to the rule, (like it or not), but alas they are also starting to slide. Asko used to be almost on par with them but they have really sunk in the last few years. And the same with AEG. Bosch is also very quickly becoming "cheap & disposable" here in North America.
Long ago people used to think Maytag was the best, but that was truly an delusional fact. Yes they were at one time built to last, but one thing a Maytag washer has never been able to do well is CLEAN CLOTHES. Add to the one of the WORST rinse cycles ever put into a washing machine and you've got a piece of garbage.
I have always said, I would rather have a washer that cleans clothes for 5 years and replace it rather than have a washer for 20 years that couldn't clean better than washing them in my toilet.
Maytag washers, do, did, and always have SUCKED!!!

I am very well aware of that.
When I was selling Major Appliances a few years ago it was amazing how many people were dedicated to that particular Brand.
Unfortunately, it was always for the wrong reasons.
And it always amazed me how many people had been "disappointed" that the newer Maytags didn't last like their Mother's & Grandmother's had.
Hard to convince people that quality doesn't exist anymore in almost all makes.
But it sure made for some laughs at the lunchroom table though.....
I still say the problem is that most people don't "test drive" appliances like many of us on here would.
If we aren't happy with it-we'll send it back and keep doing so until we get the right one to do the job.
I've been through 7, yes SEVEN front-load washers in just over 2 years now myself. (Albeit mostly due to mechanical defects).
For the most part, if the machines fill, agitate, rinse & spin then that MUST mean that it's doing a good job.

Many come in with the same 'I want something good quality and no more than (low) $XXX.....'
One major retailer in Australia holds the exclusive distribution for Ariston appliances....here, they have the WORST reliability rating of any machine and are expensive in comparison to Electrolux and Bosch from a features perspective. It appears that one of their main 'selling' points is that you can lift the machine by the door....great...but will it be reliable and wash properly?

Lets face it, our enthusiasm for electrical's aside, your average washing machine buying public look for reliability, ease of use and high performance. All Miele products, be it a washer, vacuum, oven..whatever, deliver this. They're idiot proof to use, hold a lot, give excellent wash results, spin things very dry and as bonuses, Miele offer long warranties and they are very quiet in operation. That's only because basically Miele is the best, more established, most available quality brand you can get today. Easily the best washer we've ever had, best performance, efficiency, and most reliable machines you can buy on the market. Much better than the Bosch it replaced, my nana's AEG 86741 (a decent machine in itself), and miles better than all the many GEC made Hotpoints that have been in our family, both in our own home and throughout the homes of many relatives.
Would be interesting if you could name "so many other brands" offering "so so so much more". Besides Maytag/Asko, and the V Zug, I don't think there is anything else left out there made to the same high quality. (And, if I'm not mistaken, the currently sold Maytag/Askos don't have a delicates cycle?).
Not just that, but it's not a requirement to slam the washer door - it can be closed just like any other machine. But on the same merits, I'm not sure there are many other machines out there that would be able to take the door being slammed so many times.
We've had a minor glitch with the washer - in which they sent out an engineer free of charge to sort, turned out to be nothing at all - but they still updated the machine for free, and swapped the main control board to send the previous one to the factory to see why it gave a random error code for no reason - don't think any other company out there would even bother doing that if there was no major fault. An installation error with the dryer - again only found out after having an engineer - free of charge - out to it. Problems resolved, pretty much the best customer service we've had from any company, a pleasure to deal with - can't say the same for Bosch when we wanted them to fix one of their washers that basically died after 3 years. The fact that they also endorse 5 and 10 year warranties says it all for their commitment to quality.
Everybody who has used our Miele products in our home have commented how solid, how quiet, and how well performing they are - so much so that a couple of family friends have bought Miele machines because of it - from washers/dryers to their vacs.
Perhaps if more brands out there had the same quality in terms of build, durability, and performance, then they wouldn't be as "boring". It's just a sad state of affairs that so few offer that.
