Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Thanks for the replies

Ok, I don't think I will have a problem with the water temperature because I have mine set high already. I'll just need to remember to run it from the faucet to get it nice and hot before I start it. I also need to take a look at the type of dishwashing detergent I have been using - it's a liquid but I'm not sure if it's a low temp variety.

I'm hoping to go see the one in the beginning picture tomorrow. It seems they have used it daily and said it works great (famous last words from any seller). My only other regret is that I'll have to paint the front panels white to match my existing 60's Frigidaire suite - I know there are folks who love the copper tone color.

Lastly, I'm truly hoping that I can convert this to a built in without any major modifications - I don't have room in my kitchen for a stand alone and am still somewhat undecided if I should hold out for an original built in. Thanks so much for all the input and knowledge sharing...it's been great and keep it coming.

Liquid Detergents

I would stay away from them in general. From what I've read they are not that good for your machine but again there will be many opinions on this topic.

I can tell you that these dispensers were not designed for liquids and others here have reported that the liquid detergents run out of these dispensers when you close the door.

I looked at my service manual on the 16 series machines. The one above is an Imperial and has two after rinses. If you find a Superba model (the one that you decided to stay away from) you'll get three after rinses in the Heavy Soil Cycle if that is important to you. The other cycles all have two after rinses. I personally never felt like my dishes weren't properly rinsed after two rinses. The third is nice I guess and adds the Sani option in that last rinse but that's a "whole nuther topic" that I'll stay away from. LOL
