Can you spot the faux pas?

I was thumbing through a February, 1958 edition of BH&G last evening and found came across this ad for a General Electric dryer.  After looking at the ad closely, I spotted something that's somewhat out-of-place.  This is the clearest copy I could come up with; found it on Ebay.  Hopefully it's clear enough to spot the error.

That chrome strip at the top of the dryer door is simply 'bling' that matches the same piece on the washer.

One thing I noticed in the picture is that the door on the cabinet to the left of the little boy doesn't fit properly. The gap above that door doesn't match the others.

The red item in dryer with lighter things? The totally bogus outdoor backdrop with ''rain'' falling? Me not know.

Possibly, the little girl should not have her fingers in the hinge side of the dryer door, if her mother closes the door that might hurt!

OK, I'll tell you.  The ad features absolute TOL appliances, and in 1958 the TOL washer was available in two forms - with and without the suds-return feature.  The washer in the ad is the suds-return version (model WA-955S).  But, where's the laundry sink to receive and hold the sudsy water?

The suds-return switch is the small white square just below the General Electric logo on the console.  I've included another picture of this console (again, an Ebay find) with a link for better viewing.  For a view of the non-suds-saver model (WA-950S) go to the pictures of Robert's (webmaster) collection.  The very first photo of his laundry room shows his turquoise 1958 Filter-flo sans suds-saver.

So, why was a Suds Return model put there without the proper provisions?

Or is there possibly a sink or a tub IS back there behind the washer, but merely extending outside of the house?

With all the strange conjectures going on, I couldn't help but weigh in with something else just as weird...

How were you able to tell its a suds saver model?

The (slide) switch that controls the suds-saver functions is visible in the area between the mother's left arm and her torso.  If the washer were a non-suds-saver model there would be nothing there, just a blank, turquoise area.
