Hi,

just purchased a maytag e2l and got the wringers to go up by hitting the release but cannot get them back down all the way. The pins seem to be hitting something. Help please. I can send you pics or video if need be.

Are they in the "locked-up" position? If so, press the release bar and hold in with one hand and turn the reset bar on top counter-clockwise with the other hand. That drops the cap in place. Then, turn the reset bar clockwise; that should lock them in place. Good luck.

Swing it Both Ways

Geoff its good to your moniker in the thread.  Isn't it time for some Maytag summer Gyration complete with pictures?

Hi Kelly ... there MUST be some project in my garage that needs some photos so we can have some gyrafoam action going; I'll take a look and let you know!! :-)

I know Drew has been after me for sometime for shots of the "red harem"; I might have to oblige at some point.

Speak of the Devil... LOL!!!

Geoff, it's great to see you post again. Really. You've been missed... Yes, I would love to see the red Harem but haven't been pushing as I imagine you've been busy with other things. For me, going thru the 52 AMP has been fun with 'learn as you go' action!

Maybe the wringer head needs a little TLC to help the mechanism function?

Hey, Drew ...

I've got another fun Maytag wringer to add ... it's a rare one and needs some work. It's been in the garage all winter; time to get started on it. Pictures to come!!!

Our winter here was super long and very snowy. I just couldn't work in the freezing cold garage and didn't have enough room in my home to drag everything downstairs.

I've green with envy over your 52 AMP; HOW FUN!! I just want to do a whole bunch of laundry in one those machines!! I'm also sick over Ben's AMP SET!!! OMG.

success!!!

It was in the "locked up" position. Now it is not.
Have a great weekend...I will be doing laundry.

Hi Mike ... glad we could help!

Did you know you really "should" lock the rolls apart in between wash days? When done washing and machine is clean and unplugged, press the release bar and lift up on the cap a inch or two then turn the reset lever a quarter turn clockwise and the upper cap will be in the locked up position. Leave it there until your next wash day and you will never have "flat" rollers!!

Happy washing and watch those fingers!! :-)

To reiterate what Geoff said about the rollers being locked apart, these are the instructions directly from the owners manual.

To lock rollers apart:

1. Release tension by pressing the red or turquoise release bar on either side.

2. Place hand under upper roll, raise the cap approximately 1 inch-and

3. Turn reset handle one quarter turn clockwise.

To place tension on the rollers again:

1. Press red or turquoise bar-and

2. Simultaneously turn reset handle one quarter turn counter-clockwise.

3. When cap drops into place, turn reset handle one quarter turn clockwise to once again place tension on the rolls.
