Americana

What beautiful photographs of our American landscape. I appreciate the winter landscape of my Yankee cousins. I could not live in such a winter climate no matter how beautiful unless I could find an original Dutch Colonial house intact.

I agree

beautiful pictures, the scenes are spectacular!

Also though, to our friends in MA, please be safe too... storms can make getting around pretty challenging sometimes!

Nor-easter???? Looks like a dusting so far. You gotta admit, the cape usually gets the best side of the storms that hit MA. While we're pelted with snow, you guys get rain, or, at best, a mix. Heck... we had about 2" of snow just this morning! Our last "storm" on the 14th was about 5-6" but didn't cause a whole lot of trouble other than some school closings (see pic). When you get 8-10" in less than a day, we'll talk nor-easter!

Just getting started

Those pics are just at the start. We ended up with 12' down here. And some really high wind gusts. Had one gust recorded at 68 mph. here in Barnstable. Yes it's true to say most of the time when the state is getting slammed with snow,we'll get a mix that eventually turns to rain, but when we get a NorEaster, it's concern for the Mariners and the Coastal Beach Erosion Concerns.

Hey, Toggle--- someone's complaining about getting 12 inches!!!

Seriously, I didn't know you got that much down there this time. That IS unusual, and probably wipes out a good portion of your snow removal budget for the season. Hopefully all fared well and there were no major outages (I'd know this if I watched the news, but I try not to watch what I call Doom and Gloom Time).

Bend at the knees, dear.............

*OOOOH* My aching back. Well it CAN hurt if you don't handle it gingerly and properly. And for G-d's sake not so fast and all at once!

When I bought my house I RAN to get me a snow thrower (even before new appliances); it is a corner property. Never again will I buy a corner property.

In the next village (three blocks over!) there are properties that don't HAVE sidewalks. AMEN to that!

I was also seriously considering electric snow melting cables under the sidewalks. Cost-to-run be damned!

When I was a kid in south central CT, our neighborhood didn't have sidewalks. We had fun making snow forts etc. But I remember more than once getting a shoe or boot sucked off by stepping into a puddle of slush, right in front of school. Not fun!
