Lovely dryer for FREE in southern Indiana. If I really wanted a dryer I'd fix it up and use it again because it's so delightfully simple. I think this is a 1974; it has the paint that is slightly darker at the edges of the machine. The paint is in good shape--not perfect, but excellent for 50 years old. I haven't used it for a few years. From what I remember, it could use the following:
1. Lint screen is getting old (small holes)
2. It runs on low (which was fine for me. My parents said it would overheat on high; I'm not sure if this is true but I didn't try it.)
3. I would rewire it. I think the last time I opened it up I saw an electrical tape fix and I can't remember if I detached that part or not. Regardless, I'd redo at least part of the wiring. It's50 years old, after all.
We had a minor condensation issue under it and the washer. I don't know if this was just because of something simple such as the hose not being firmly attached. The oak floors in that room discolor with the tiniest amount of water on them, so maybe it wasn't even an issue. I remember thinking if I fixed it up I'd sand the bottom plate a bit and paint it with Rustoleum (not visible).
We're in Indiana about an hour south of Indianapolis. I want this to go to someone who will use it, not scrap it. There are no stairs involved. It's a bit difficult for me to send photos so please inquire only if you are seriously interested and can get to our location.
