Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

I agree this is a DD from the early to mid 1980s. It is difficult to tell because it is a 24 inch washer, and washers of that width were offered as BDs and DDs at that time I believe. However it looks as if the lid takes up almost the whole top. A BD lid would not be as deep from front to back.

Have a good one,

the capri was really a good machine controls were sparse, IIRC most of them had water temps selected on the timer. 12 min/hot 10min/warm 6-8 minutes cold. no gadgets the break and could wash a weeks worth of clothes for 2 people in 1.5 hours. It seems nowdays bells and whisltes lead you down that electronic trail. give me the simple timer please. alr2903

Sears flirted with at least two non-Kenmore brand names for the BOL models in the early to mid 90s. When not using "Capri", I think "Sears" was used as well. I was unsure why suddenly the Kenmore name was too good to go on the BOLs. I believe the next model up was a Capri also.

Too simple.

ONE speed, no water level choices. Potential for fabric damage, and LOTS of wasted water and chemicals, if a person needed to wash only 4 pair of underwear and a hand towel....

One thing I find interesting about these BOLs, from a few years back all the way to the 70s, is that the timer used is capable of other cycles, in this case a Perm Press where that giant OFF section is. The cycle is simply not wired to work, which would take only a couple wires in the harness from the disconnect block to the cabinet. What would that cost, a dollar maybe? This was done to BD and DD machines in the lower echelons of the lineup.

I always figured that was such a waste.
