I have recently aquired a set of Duncan Miller Iced Tea glasses in the Canterbury Pattern. This is a fine glassware badged as "The Lovliest Glassware in America" the glasses I have were in production from 1939-the companys closing in 1955.

Anyways in the set of 8, six of the glasses are crystal clear, one is lightly hazy, and the last one is very hazy, kinda looking like a white build up of something from use. The two hazy glasses dont appear to be scratch marks causing this.
I was hoping that someone here could share possible solutions to try to get the two glasses clear like the others.

I have a pic of the glasses included here, but you cant see the hazy ones in the pic.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Sam

Warm white distilled

vinegar, for several hours. If that does not help, they are scratched. Soak the hazy ones in the vinegar. Or try Glass Magic. Or Lemishine, if you can't find Glass Magic. However, I would use the white distilled vinegar first.

Or just live with them, and appreciate their age/look.

Excessive dishwasher detergent can "rainbow" [corrode] or "haze" drinking glasses.

There was a REASON in the 70's that restaurants had yellow or red plastic tumblers!

Dawn-Borax-Hot Water Soak

We found a great set of turquoise-colored French "working glasses" and some matching bowls in the same design. Several of the pieces had a multicolored film or haze that looked like dried soap when you held it up to the light, what I've always called "dishwasher residue" and probably what Toggles is referring to.

At first, it seemed that nothing would work on that, not even vinegar. We found that soaking overnight in a sinkful of hot water with big squeeze of Dawn and about a cup of 20 Mule Team Borax mixed in gets that off. Next morning all were clear and clean. One final hand wash and they look great.
