Hello, I am a "CBS Sunday Morning" correspondent who has contacted your group of collectors several times over past years with regard to doing a piece on one of your group get-togethers for our national television audience. I have done previous reports on collectors of surprising items such as toasters, puppets, and vacuum cleaners all of which have been most popular with viewers (and never condescending in the least).

I had developed Parkinson's Disease and am in my final year of reporting. Doing a piece for CBS on your group is number one on my list.

Would someone please get back to me to discuss the possibility?

Thank you.

Bill Geist

Wow honored, yours has been the best show on TV for decades running.
Sorry to hear of your health issues.
I remember you covering "Parrot Heads" (Jimmy Buffett fans) so this crowd should fit right in.
I am local (NYC/San Diego) but new to the group, and collecting in general. I am sure others here far more versed and dedicated will jump at the chance to assist you.
Nonetheless i will email you my contact info with "automatic washer" in the subject line.
Thank you for your truly heart felt lighthearted reporting lo these many years.

Love CBS Sunday Mornings, and especially your spot's Bill. Check out this thread, about a Wash In, upcoming in Pittsburgh.

Hi Bill, happy belated 70th to you, and sincere wishes for effective management of your health challenge going forward.

I honestly think that if our webmaster Robert (member ID is "unimatic1140") is willing, he could probably get a group together at his house.  He has the most impressive collection and knows a good cross section of friends and fellow collectors who could participate.

I would love to see this piece become a reality and think I can safely say that as a group we are both flattered and honored to be your top priority.

Best of luck,

Ralph

Ralph...

Love the "Seal of Good Practice.

Reminds me of the days you would see that after a quality television show.

And Yes, Ralph speaks for many of us that are extremely flattered that you chose AutomaticWasher.Org.  We are quite the eclectic group. LOL

I have contacted them

and spoken to Bill Geist, and also have put Jerry Moparwash onto them to set something up. Bill said his producer will contacting me. I'll keep up to date with you all when I hear from them.

I can't get to Pittsburgh this year but I am hoping they will just do an interview with me about the club history since I hosted the very first Wash-In and coined that phrase back in the early 90's.

Hopefully this will all come together. Roberts would be the ideal place to have them film as he has so many restored machines and his basement looks the best out of all of our collections !

Exciting times in Applianceville !

Bill, I'm a big fan! I hope this works out. All the best in your retirement, but I know I will miss seeing you on Sunday Morning.

Our club members have a lot of different collections. Ted and Jeff do stoves and refrigerators as well. Justin and I do vintage TVs and radios. There are countless collections in this club of you need any other ideas. Lol

Hi Bill,
is Judy Hole still producing CBS Sunday Morning? I worked with her a few summers ago at the Maine Photographic workshop.

You should contact Robert (unimatic). He started this group and has by far the most extensive collection of vintage machines.
