Well I wasn't going to attrack attention from aw about my birthday last week, it's not as if we don't all have them. Anyway I'm the sort who no one can think what to get, so my sister organised for a friend of hers who makes celebration cakes proffesionally to make me one.

Well I was bold over with the suprise, the detail and scale was so good, I felt I had to share it with you, I know this is by no means the first washer cake for a birthday,I just felt this one had to be shared with you.

Also I'd like to dedicate it to Hoover, for 50 years of automatic washing machines, this being the first.

You may also ask where to start to cut a cake like this, well for me it was obvious, take the back off!

all the best

Mathew

Happy Belated Birthday Mathew...

Hey Mathew, that's a awesome cake. You just took my back to my 15th birthday, where two close friends of mine made me my washing machine cake, under the name Hasszanussi, lol. Also wish you a happy belated birthday!!

Hass :)

Almost as excited as you dearest Mathew

im amazed at the skill that has gone into making that cake.

Im stuck for words but to say everytime I look at it I cant stop smiling, its just WOW!

I wonder if she made it with a nice mixer?

Wow!

Oh Mathew, that's fantastic, what a great sister you must have to think of that! Her friend deserves 10/10, looks like one of those cakes where it's almost a shame to eat it. Even the fonts at the bottom are great!

Hope you had a great birthday!

Hi Mathew.

That cake is fantastic!!!!
Got the angles and proportions really well and love the inside of the drum effect, with the nice chunky, deep door seal.

Which picture did she model it off?

Was great to be able to meet up on Wednesday morning, though your evening cake put our morning cake to shame.

Happy 40th Birthday mate and hope you had a great day!

That's a fantastic cake, Mathew!
I hope you had a good birthday.

I like your cake too, Gary, in particular the clever use of the little cake foil for the drum!

Being a 'Keymatic' thread, I thought you may be interested to see a couple of 'period' photos (slide scans) which my dad took, back in 1968.
These are just family kitchen scenes, but you will notice in both photos our old Keymatic, and in the second photo our original Parnall (identical to the one I now own all these years later!)
Incidentally, the little boy in the first photo, standing on the kitchen stool at the sink is me!
